Definitely for heavy chewers! It was a random purchase but I am very pleased and decided to share my experience with amazon customers. Sometimes it is so frustrating to have a heavy chewer puppy at home, so many leashes got waisted but not any more! If you struggle like I was with dozens of retractable leashes - this is a way to go!

I have a dog, foster through my local shelter, and sometimes even pet sit. I need a retractable leash that is strong enough to handle Mastiffs and Great Danes but light enough to not weigh me down on walks(in case I'm carrying a puppy or spoiled little dog lol). This leash has been just what I needed. I feel secure having a large dog out in front of me and confident in the strength of the leash. The additional chain they included even stopped my anxiety ridden dog from chewing on the strap while waiting for me to open the door. This has been a great buy.

I have been pleased with this solution after viewing several and deciding on this brand of leash as the only way to avoid buying more leashes too quickly. The chain provided has totally discouraged the pup from biting through the leash, which she kind of did at play, destroying her old one, and I enjoy that I can rein her in for a good walk with her close or allow her some room to run, which she loves to do when in an open field area. I was originally concerned about her teeth, but smart dogs learn quickly and nothing to be concerned about as it turns out. Still early, I guess, but I would recommend if someone has a same problem with a dog biting through the leash.

My dog apparently loves to eat the fabric. I thought this for the chain link. When I got it, I realized it was just a simple chain that attached to the retractable dog leash. We bought two of them, one by accident which came in handy because she bit right through it. Shes a smart dog, I can't be mad at her. Who wants to be leased up all the time. lol The reason I put 5 stars is because the retract part never gets caught. It has a button that keeps it from going out or coming in and that works well. It is light weight and has a good grip.

Recently acquired a puppy. I had been warned that they like to chew. Can Bailey chew!! I prefer the retractable leash, but he chewed through 3 of them. I decided to try this model and so far so good. He is not happy that he can't chew the steel chain, but I am. Wish I knew about this first time around.

Great dog leash, my dog loves to chew the leash off right near the collar and she does this in like two seconds. The metal leash part works great to prevent that from happening. The retractable leash is sturdy and well build, I like the 'ribbon style' leashes over the cord leashes. Only thing that took a bit to get used to is that the trigger would automatically lock, so every time you press the trigger to stop the retractable leash, it locks. Not a big deal, just something slightly different to get used to. Would recommend!

Our new puppy chewed through about three leashes prior. The leash is sturdy enough for a fast running pup and the chain prevents chewing. It helped break that habit fast. I would recommend it on a small dog. Our 9YO Beagle who is about 35-40 pounds it is a pain. The chain part for some reason drags and kept getting caught under his leg (doesn’t happen with our pup who is a fraction of the size). The chain is removable and will come off as the pup gets older.

We were having problems with our puppy chewing through our rope leash. We needed something with a chain at the bottom so our puppy could not chew through it & would get out of the habit of trying to chew and pull the leash. We have a four month old mini Australian Shepherd she is sassy and we needed some thing to help resist chew!
