The Best of Rowan: 50 Designer Knitting Patterns

My skill level right now is at "just look at the photos in awe". Beautiful, LOTS of color work. Beautiful patterns but most are more "vintage" in style. Still enjoyed the photos . The patterns are written in euro verbage, but a skilled knitter would be able to use the abbreviation key and work thru them.

I love this book the moment it arrived. I perused every pattern and they are clearly written and the pictures are fantastic. Thank you.

Must say I’m disappointed with this book. Patterns are really dated and not many classics. I’ve been buying the seasonal magazines for 15 years and this stuff is way before.

great book to use for patterns for your own style of sweater. I am using the pattern with the sweater that has cheetah print. Using it to create a sweater I saw in the mall for $150. I figure it can be made for $50 to $ 60. dollars using Black, Red Stripe and Cheetah on chest area.

This book is GREAT! The patterns in it are absolutely beautiful. The directions are clear and easy to follow. This book isn't for "beginner knitters"; although there are a couple of somewhat easy patterns in the book. That being said, this was a great buy and an excellent addition to my knitting library.

For someone looking for the "latest" in knitting styles, they will not find it here. It is however a great pattern book for those of us, like me. It has classic styles that are shaped wonderfully. You may find it difficult to find the original yarn numbers from Rowan, but that should not be a problem. Simply choose a color similar to the original color, but an updated one instead. There is a great men's sweater pattern included. The patterns are easy to read. I have found no errors in the patterns or text so far. This is a great book.

The patterns are beautiful in this vintage book. My only complaint is that each pattern uses so many different colors that the cost f knitting a sweater is totally prohibitive. But...conversely...the many colors in each sweater are what make them beautiful.

This book is very good for patterns which are strictly designer, but it lacks childrens patterns, only containing about three childrens jumpers, nearly all of which are for girls. However, for anyone wanting designer jumpers for adults, this book is a must!
