America 51: A Probe into the Realities That Are Hiding Inside "The Greatest Country in the World"

I love how much common sense and hope he has.He actually won me over on something I was against. I'll still be thinking about that for a while but I think he made a very good point.While another topic I still respectfully disagree with him but it wasn't annoying hearing his whole take on it like I thought it would be. He explains his way of thinking very well and I love that he adds in humor. (The comedy sprinkled in were nice rest stops.)I listened to the audiobook while reading along with him. I really recommend listening to him read because you can hear the emotion vs wondering how exactly he sounds from just the text. It was awesome hearing how he feels about everything shared in this book.And it felt more intimate. (Plus, the jokes landed better.)The audio doesn't give you time to stop reading a sentence to roll your eyes and rant out loud to yourself if he's still going on talking. Listen to his whole point instead of assuming you know what he's about to say.I wish more people were open-minded like him; who were willing to listen and have a conversation with people who think differently from them.

This book reads easily, as though you're having a conversation with the author himself. It is not a book to change your opinions, it is just a real, honest, and colorfully written account of the author's viewpoint and how his experiences shaped that viewpoint. Excellent read especially if you don't share his beliefs. This book will, if you read it with your mind even cracked a little bit open, help a reader with opposing views to maybe understand how another person's life will shape their manner of thinking and bring them to a different viewpoint than their own. Excellent read, highly recommended.

Great book...and it is just as relevant today as it was when it was written. Fun read about a relevant topic.

I picked up this book because I’ve been a longtime fan of Corey Taylor and his music. I’m from Eastern Kentucky, Christian, female, and 20’s so most people would be unsuspecting of me aligning myself with the metal/rock genre let alone open myself up to the opinions of such. I’ve grown tired of the judgemental discord especially where I come from so this read was more than refreshing. It pulled me out this conservative, religious, narrow-minded realm and helped me see that there’s others out there that agree with me on some things. Thank goodness because I was starting to suffocate. This book is a look into the social, political and ideological differences in America. I found myself going back and rereading frame-worthy quotes, facts and statements. Even though I don’t agree or lineup with everything in the book it was tastefully fulfilling and assisted me to see America through a different lense, however I found myself agreeing and laughing more than not. Well done!

I've read every book Cory's put out and I like this one a lot. It's not as good as his others but it's still worth checking out. Taking the politics out of it he makes a pretty good point. I don't agree with all the trump hate but his oponion so I'll take it for what it's worth. If your a fan of any of his other book check this out.

Personally I am not into politics and all of that jazz whatsoever, but Corey's writing style makes even the most uninteresting topics (to me) exciting and a joy to read. He says the things that others, and especially authors, just won't do. I've read all of his others and will continue to buy them, hopefully there will be another!

My girlfriend and I are huge fans of Corey Taylor. Got this book for her as a birthday gift and it was everything we hoped for and more. Corey Taylor for president!

Corey Taylor erweist sich auch mit AMERICA 51 einmal mehr als geborener Entertainer und cleverer Kopf gleichzeitig.Wie der Titel schon andeutet nimmt Taylor in seinem vierten Buch nun die USA als Hauptziel ins Visier: er schreibt ausführlich über die diversen Präsidenten (wobei natürlich Donald Trump das Meiste abbekommt), über das Demokratie- und Rechtsverständnis der USA und natürlich auch über die Rolle der USA in der Welt.Wie man sich denken kann schlägt Taylor hierbei in der ihm eigenen, unverwechselbaren Art fröhlich mit der Verbalkeule um sich – gefühlt alle zwei Seiten hat er einen Wutanfall, und natürlich spart er nicht mit Beleidigungen in alle Richtungen. All dies gelingt ihm auf eine schlichtweg enorm unterhaltsame Art.Bei all dem merkt man aber immer wieder: Taylor ist nicht nur ein toller Entertainer, sondern einfach auch ein cleverer Kopf, und hinter seinem mitunter lustig-vulgär-aggressiven-hysterischen Schreibstil verbirgt sich ein aufmerksamer Beobachter, der Missstände und Idiotien sehr treffend analysiert und aufs Korn nimmt.Natürlich muss man Taylor nicht bei Allem zustimmen (Anzuecken war ja schon sein Markenzeichen als Künstler), und mitunter versteigt sich Taylor in reichlich gewagte Thesen – oftmals hat er aber definitiv einige sehr treffende und interessante Gedanken mitzuteilen, und langweilig wird die Lektüre von AMERICA 51 niemals.Für mich ein weiteres interessantes und schlichtweg enorm unterhaltsames Buch von Corey Taylor.Vier Sterne mit Tendenz nach oben!
