While these do look very nice and are quite a bit bigger than I expected, it is totally impossible to set the gauge for fine or coarse grinding, as there is nothing to lock the gauge in place. It just spins around while you turn the grinder, and since it's underneath (on the side presumably facing your food), you can't hold it in place manually while grinding. (In comparison, even the non-reusable McCormick grinder that comes with peppercorns in it can at least grind coarse or fine.) In addition, though the container is glass and the grinder is ceramic, the rest of the product is plastic--the tray and lids particularly lightweight. Another reviewer mentioned having a hard time getting the grinders dry after washing. I had the same problem--they looked dry, but the salt came out in wet clumps. Apparently water was hiding in the mechanism even after sitting empty for two days. I ended up using my hair dryer, which heated up the plastic on the outside to an uncomfortable degree. Overall, a lovely design, but better quality materials and a gauge that locks in place are needed to make this product really worthwhile.

Very nice set at this price. We don't use the base - it's cool but with clumsy younger kids it just ends up with tumbling grinders at the dinner table. Have had these for about 2 months, grinders are working great. There IS a difference in the smallest and biggest settings but not much...stricter gourmands may be dissatisfied, but for our daily use, and at this price, I have no complaints. The glass is robust (I don't worry about the kids breaking it) and a nice size to grip.

Great product for the money. Did not come with salt or pepper, but not a big deal. Slanted base is kind of weird/kind of cool. Overall a very good product.

This is a nice looking and unique set. My only gripe is that the dial to set the grind size (coarse to fine) is not accurate at all. At first the grind for the pepper was way too coarse, and after messing with it quite a bit I got it set to way too fine. Now I can't get it back. You should be able to easily switch from fine to coarse each time you use it depending on what you're using it for.

Love this grinder set. Really have no use for the "stand" that comes with it. The stand looks nice in the pictures, but it's really not very practical. I'm honestly not even sure where it is. The grinders on the other hand, work fantastic! I love that it has the little caps on top. I keep the top on and turn it over to grind out salt or pepper for recipes if I need an exact amount and it catches in the lid! Had this for a few months now, and the blades are still very sharp. It has an adjustable screw on the top so you can grind super fine or very course, and anywhere in between. All in all a very good product that I would order again.

Looks nice, but my pepper grinder stopped working!!! I purchased this in April 2016. Before I chucked it, I looked at it just now in October 2016. I took it apart and noticed the Plastic broke. Peppercorns kept getting stuck almost immediately...so I forgot about it. Sad..Is me!!! Would have been a five star if it worked much longer!!!!!

The pepper grinder's adjustable knob has loosened off a couple times, spilling peppercorn into the dish I was preparing. So, you're forced togrind your pepper super fine in order to avoid it loosening. Not a deal breaker for me.

Disclaimer I received a discount to purchase test and review this product. I really like the salt and pepper grinders I especially like the little display holder they come in they each sit and an angle in the opposite direction in the little holder. My husband teased me about them but yesterday he laughed when my cleaning lady specifically point it to them at the table and asked me where did you buy those I really like that. Of course at that point she and I both played with them and she liked the salt grinder the best. I'm very happy with them and although the picture is deceiving they are medium sized and hold a large amount of either peppercorns or rock salt.
