Independence!
Exactly what I hoped for! Very light weight and easy to fit into my car. this chair is going to provide me with Independence to do things that I'd actually forgotten how much I love. I have multiple sclerosis and I'm not in a chair, I can use a walker... Excetera. But, I forgot how much I love to do things like go to the park with my dog, go see parades, the trail of lights at Christmas lots of events that are requiring way too much walking for me. I just got my life back after being afraid if I got a chair I would never get out of it. This will stay in my car, it's not going to be a part of my day-to-day living, but it's going to let me do things that I truly miss. I'm going to add a little caution here, when you unfold it be careful to not let your fingers get caught between the seat and the bars for the arms. It can end up being like you got your hand caught in the car door very difficult to get out. I warned friend of mine that took me out for dinner to be careful and she also got her finger caught in the chair.

Great quality for less weight
Great quality for less weight. My arms aren't as sore getting it in and out of car. That is a huge plus for me. The lighter weight is easier to maneuver and easy to handle. I would buy again when I need another new one.

Great lightweight and portable wheelchair with one minor drawback and one major drawback
Great lightweight, portable wheelchair, easy to open and close and is very well made and sturdy. However the stock wheel locks do not hold the chair firmly unless you keep adjusting them. It is crucial that the wheel locks hold the chair in place for safety reasons when you get in and out of the wheelchair. Aftermarket wheel locks can be installed if necessary. Also, this wheelchair is not for a large person. I am 5'7" and 170 lbs. and it fits me fine. I do not think this wheel chair is adequate for a large person.

Chair didn't last a year
Editing to add that my chair broke!dropping rating to 1 star. I bought the chair in May of 2016. It is now February of 2017 and the back piece busted. The bolt that held it together busted and this is my quick fix until I can find something to hold it. Long enough to get me a chair from insuranceI'm 5'6" and 130 pounds and petite build. The chair fits well for me, but even on the longest setting the foot rests are much too short. The chair would be a small fit for a large person, and probably wouldn't work well for anyone over 5'8". The chair is a pretty metallic burgundy color. Easy to use, and didn't need directions or assembly. The upolstry of the leg pads is pretty flimsy.

Disappointed

I really like it. It is a great chair
I really like it. It is a great chair. They only thing I was disappointed in is, it doesn't come in an 18" X 18" seat. Two more inches, or even one more inch, would take away the feeling of being dumped forward. It looks like to me Karman would have made their nylon seating for that, it would not have made any difference to the folding of it, or to the weight of it. But, over all it is a great wheel chair, and I bought it because it weighs only 24 lbs without the leg rests, but I don't need the leg rests. I have to carry it wherever I go, so I need for it to weigh as light as possible.

Too small for an adult
I ordered the Karman LT980 after having surgery for a severe calcaneus fracture/break/crush, etc. Three hours of surgery, twelve screws, two plates and various wires later I am looking at 6-8 (probably 8) weeks with my right foot elevated and in a cast. Being self-employed, my wife and I are not able to stay at home for such an extended period of time so I sought out a chair that she could easily lift into our vehicle, could elevate my right leg, and still be sturdy enough for daily use. Weighing in at 24 lbs this is the only feature that met our criteria. Otherwise, the chair seems to be made for a child. I am 5' 8", 180lbs. The 18'' seat width is sufficient and I can live with the 16" depth though another inch or two would be helpful. HOWEVER, the leg extensions don't even come close to my leg length. My foot extends at least 8" past the foot rest when the extension is up and fully extended. (Yes, I am sure it is fully extended) I therefore have to fold the foot rest in and let my leg hang off of the calf support only which is essentially no support at all. My wife is 5'3", 120lbs and the extensions are 4" too short for her. I read in some of the reviews that this chair would not accomodate tall people. Apparently 5'8 "and 5'3" are now considered tall by the engineering department at Karman R&D. The next little surprise we received was the tipping problem. Not backward--forward. An ice pack fell off of my leg and onto the floor. I began leaning forward to retrieve it and the chair responded in kind. Note I used the the word "began". I did not touch the floor or the ice pack but merely started leaning forward to approximately the end of the armrests. Owing to my cat-like reflexes and instincts I was able to immediately right myself and the chair with no damage to either. Contrary to what my wife might say I assure you, dear reader, that she did not "snatch me from the jaws of death and a second surgery" when I "shrieked like a six year old girl with a bug in her hair". Absurd and patently false. If I had acted like a six year old girl, and were perhaps 120lbs lighter, the chair would be a good fit for me so the latter obviously cannot be true. (That's my delusion and I'm sticking to it.) The actual point to this part of the story is that the chair is far too small for an average sized adult. About that I am NOT deluded. The third problem is the tire traction. They seem to work fine going forward but going backward is equally important in a wheel chair. When starting in reverse from a stopped position the tires seem to have little or no traction. We have tile in our home and businesses with a bit of carpet here and there, however the surface doesn't seem to matter. Unless the movement is started very, very slowly the tire will only spin. Not a big deal if one is merely backing up for an extra rib at the buffet. However, if there is a shrieking six year old girl with a bug in her hair running blindly toward your mangled foot at roughly twice the speed of NASCAR, this could be a problem. In conclusion, I would like describe, but not necessarily recommend, the chair numerous family and friends have been using (and possibly abusing) for approximately ten years. It is certainly nothing fancy and was purchased from a discount tool store when an immediate need arose. If I recall correctly the price was less than $100 with a % off coupon. It is heavy, bulky, clunky and the foot rests must be adjusted with a wrench. It does not have leg extensions but I have discovered a way to mount a crutch so the "handle end" supports my leg. Not ideal but works a bit better than the Karman. It has survived rides in the back of a truck, being thrown into back of said truck, extreme attic temps when not in use and much more. It has rolled over wet and dry gravel, concrete, asphalt, tile, carpet, you name it. Its well worn solid rubber tires turn, stop and start on a dime. It has never tipped forward or backward. A six year old girl would run from this chair and forget the bug. And it is the one I am taking to work in the morning. I'm sure there is a comparable model at a similar price to be found on Amazon if you are in the market for such an item. The bottom line here is you don't "always" get what you pay for. I'm still searching for a chair that will properly elevate my foot, though I am considering starting off at the low end of the spectrum this time since there are many good reviews. If anyone has a suggestion regarding the needs I have detailed here, please feel free to comment. The two attached photos show how far my foot extends past the foot rest. I was going to try and re-create the front tipping on video and my wife said "Sure, lets show the whole world your cat-like instincts and reflexes while I stand ten feet away and record them." But then she took my phone and left the room mumbling something about the "dumb grass". I suppose it's because she has to cut it now due to my injury. Gosh I love that lady.

This lightweight yet sturdy wheelchair has turned out to be perfect for me ...
This lightweight yet sturdy wheelchair has turned out to be perfect for me and for my disabled husband. It folds so compactly I just put it onto the floor of the backseat and away we go. His previous chair had weighed 50 pounds and was awkward to get into the car even folded. Because my husband is short, I reset the wheels to the lower configuration without any problem. We also got the anti-tippers for this wheelchair and now it is perfect.

Quality seems good for a lightweight wheelchair
Just as advertised. Fully assembled, lightweight. Quality seems good for a lightweight wheelchair. Mainly purchased because of the smaller size to fit my wife but I am pleasantly surprised by the quality. Delivered in two days as promised
