not just for sake lovers
Coming from a wine lover turned sake aficionado, I have found the best tasting glass for both. Yes, it's expensive and I realize it'll eventually break. It's extremely thin glass but that only makes the feel in your hand all the more elegant. Apparently it's made by hand and the design is brilliant because the center of the glass is like an upside tear drop (maybe stalagmite may be a more appropriate simile) which channels the liquid in easy to swirl motion. The "tulip" shape focuses the aroma perfectly and the size of this glass makes it work for Scotch as well. I'm buying (one at a time most likely) another 3 or 4 for guests because this is the coolest wine tasting glass ever made. I love Riedel glasses for wine but this outperforms their stemless glasses in a big way. Ironically, it's a little big compared to traditional sake vessels but it works all the same. I've spent almost twice the amount of this glass for a "Sommelier" Riedel Burgundy glass but it's just too big for tasting (not to mention a bit ostentatious/obnoxious). These guys need to market this glass to the single malt and wine lovers of the world. It's a testiment to the Japanese's innovation that they'd design a glass that truly aerates the beverage with a perfect rounded basin to provide ample swirling efficiency. It arrived just like the photo, in a neat little wooden box with authenticity statement from the craftsman. Spend the money and live a little. Life's too short to drink good wine/sake/whiskey out of a lousy glass :-)

Beautiful glass - but be careful
It's a beautiful tasting glass, maybe a little large for sake for some. Obviously don't expect to have ice with your drink. The glass is very breakable - this isn't a bar pint by any means.
