Letters to a Young Poet Paperback – September 11, 2014

I am full-on obsessed with the tenderness and beauty of Rilke's choice of wording. It soothes my soul.

Some poetical nuggets of wisdom throughout, however meandering the text might be. Worth the hype? Not sure. Worth the read? Definitely.

I expected poems that were writen not what the book mainly contained. Not really happy with this buy.

A friend wanted a read buddy. I’m glad I agreed. This edition’s translator seems to have done a really decent job.The letters offer powerful advice using whimsical words characteristic of the author’s era; a lot of which is still relevant today.

The book was mentioned in the movie Sister Act 2“Back In The Habit” and the quote “if Singing is all you can think about, then you’re suppose to be a Singer girl” inspires you to read the book, and that encouragement was enough to set expectations!

A songwriting blog led me to an interview with a songwriter, whose advice in turn led me to this book. I was impacted greatly by the profound advice Rilke shares in her letters. I thought the path that led me to this book meant that I would find some great secrets of lyric writing hidden in this book. Instead, I found cliff's notes to life.

Lovely letters put together.

I discovered Rilke's "Letters to a Young Poet" years ago and it has become my favorite. Much of the advice contained in the 10 letters completed in 1908 are relevant to all in this 21st Century. I've been a great "underliner''of this book and many others and each time I reread them I am rewarded with new insights and appreciation for the works of the Authors.

If you like reading Shakespeares plays and sonnets, this is for you. If not, don't buy. It isn't a story, it's a series of poems written in old English.

I absolutely love this book, highly recommend definitely worth the read, whoopi Goldberg recommended in her book about relationships called if they say you complete them run? And also on sister act, i then bought it off her recommendations and I love it

The price was very good, but such a poor print. Not so easy to read. I was very looking forward to read this book so a bit disappointed.
