Storia della bambina perduta: L'amica geniale 4

A terrific ending to a fascinating story. Please start with the first book of this tetralogy. Ann Goldstein's translations of the first three novels are superb but, for added flavour, the Italian originals can be read side by side. Given that the translation will only be available in September 2015 I couldn't resist reading Storia della bambina perduta. Ferrante's italian is vivid and surprisingly easy to read for anyone who can read Portuguese, French, Spanish or Romanian. The first few pages are hard but after that, with a small dictionary at hand, it just flies.

She is an amazing writer. Smooth to read, srorically accurate, intense and realistic story

I read "L'amica geniale" but I didn't read Storia della bambina perduta. Therefore I can't give an evaluation. L'amica Geniale was well written in Italian and it kept one's attention. The scenes described were very real Neapolitan scenes. It gave the flavor of Neapolitans' attitude on social interaction. Looking forward to reading other books by the author.

I don't usually read fiction but these four books have been some of the most memorable ones that I have ever read.

One of the most sincere writings I have ever read. The author touched me with her direct and honest description of her characters and their stories without any superfluous details or unnecessary stylish descriptions.

For me, a masterpiece. An epic that has marked my emotions permanently, and taken me through a tour de force of my own life memories, feelings, thoughts, sharpening them in my mind more clearly than I could have ever done.

Great autor, still on my first book but I enjoy the way she describe every moments. That give more reality to the event.

Lettura appassionante, veloce, scorrevole, non troppo impegnativa, perfetta per la spiaggia o prima di addormentarsi. Ho letto i quattro libri in un batter d'occhio, la storia di Lenù è affascinante, con i suoi successi e le sue insicurezze, e la strana amicizia con Lila. Un rapporto fra due persone tanto diverse, un'amicizia che la fa spesso soffrire, ma di cui non può far a meno. Opposti che si attraggono su uno sfondo storico di un'Italia reazionaria che sta cambiando velocemente.
