It’s hard not to smile while reading this book. The author is talented, upbeat, encouraging and kinda funny… in my opinion. Reading this book gave my creative side a nice little boost of confidence and motivation, which to me is a sign of a good teacher.

I purchased this book based on the author's actual artwork - I mean the artwork that he displays for show or sale. It's absolutely beautiful. There are sketches to help with the lessons, but none of his actual artwork is included in this book. So even though his actual artwork is not included inside this book, I love the book. I think the book is helpful, and I would love it if he would create a book of his beautiful artwork as well. Thank you and best wishes.

I highly recommend this book to anyone desiring to learn great techniques in value and shading to improve their art.

This book is a wonderful, thoughtful and brilliant guide which teaches important elements of sketching that allows you to bring your vision as an artist or amateur to life!

The author has put it in very simple words, he has made it very easy to understand even to the beginners. His deep knowledge of sketching is seen throughout the book. I can’t wait to use these techniques and start sketching. I would definitely recommend this book to whoever is looking to learn sketching.Its a great book. Worth $$ paid.

This book on sketching, while it touches lightly on important subjects like perspective and values (shading), I don't think it would help greatly somebody new to sketching. The coverage of important points of sketching is perfunctory. A more experienced sketcher won't find much here. However, the author is enthusiastic and does want to help the reader learn. The final chapter that walks you through various steps of a drawing is the best part of the book.

Get-Set-Sketch takes sketching instructions and breaks them down into easy to grasp concepts. This how an art teacher should explain their craft.

I find his exercises extremely helpful, very good artist and teacher. I will buy more of his books.

The author's friendly tone with a touch of humor was engaging. He made it seem so easy and that all I needed was to pick up my pen and paper and get started. I'll be sharing this book with my homeschool students.

It's a very interesting book. It is divided into different chapters and works with animals, trees, calm waters, capturing the reader's attention, encouraging him to improve his drawing skills.

I liked the simplicity of the explanation. I also feel that Shirish, being a self taught artist, has clearly put forth a step by step instruction for the little nuances that otherwise create a resistance in people wanting to start sketching. I would like to congratulate him for his approach of spreading the joy of art by making is simple. I would definitely ask my students of design to read the book and follow it religiously. Best part - the rules are that there are no rules! The conversational style also appealed.

The author has explained the basics of not only various techniques of sketching but starts with the basics of various pens, inks, papers to use. The language is simple and it's fun to read but makes sure the point that the author wants to make stands out. The sketches in the book themselves are a visual treat and great references to learn. Best part to know is there are no rules but some helpful thumb rules. True to its title just get going with discovering this wonderful form of sketching.
