Making real science on vaccines fun for kids
My first observation was this book is strikingly illustrated with humor and charm, appealing to a child's taste for cartoons. Vaccinations are essential to protect children from infectious diseases, so helping them understand why they are given them is important. This book contains plenty of information, simply written, probably 3rd to 5th grade reading age. I have a PhD in biological sciences, and in my educated opinion the science is accurately written, although it has been simplified for a young audience. The frequent "Top Tips" insets encourage best health and hygiene practices, and "How it works" insets are succinct. This book is an excellent reference for a school library or home book shelf. In my opinion, it would also a suitable introduction to the science of vaccines for less literate adults. I am an infectious disease researcher, and even I learned new facts!

Very good, not for dummies
The whole series of the "You wouldn't want to" books is outstanding; complex themes are edited great to bring them close to children and they are easy to understand without getting boring. And so is this book about vaccinations. Don't be irritated by the majority of the reviews. Remember there are a huge amount of militant vaccination opponents out there than militant supporters (Most of the supporters are not militant and have other things to do than writing reviews. I've had the time). When you count the first type of reviewers on amazon.uk and amazon.com and compare them, your first impression could be the US is a lot dumber than the UK. Hm, possible, but I think: More people, more reviews. So all in all a nice present for inquisitive children

Vaccines proctect is all even those who are not vaccinated
People today have no idea what it would be like to actually live without vaccines. Even those who are not vaccinated are protected by others who are. The only reason people can chose not to vaccinate and feel confident that they won’t get sick is because others are vaccinated.

Any book that helps a child overcome the fear of an injection is worth the money. Vaccination in not only about saving lives but also about preventing loss of learning from time missed from school.
