Perfect addition to the X7mini
1/26/15 Update: It's been a year now, and this remote is still heavily in use with the Minix. It still works fine, nothing negative to report. I have never had the battery life issues that others have mentioned. I am using rechargables, not known for their long life, and they last for weeks. With alkalines, they last for months.I bought a Minix X7mini from Amazon and quickly realized that the remote it comes with is pathetic. I then bought a mini keyboard/touchpad for $15 here too and it broke after only 1 day. I decided that I needed to spent a few more $$ and started reading reviews for these air mouse devices. I figured that point and shoot would be nice, and out of the few of these devices out there, I decided to stick with the Minix brand.I have had it only a few days now, and it has worked very well for me. You turn on the pointer by pressing a button and clicking any key (except for the "Android Dude" left mouse button key) returns you to remote key mode. The keyboard on the backside is comfortable to use and the keys are solid, not mushy. The only negative things (I wouldn't remove a star for them) are that it doesn't work that great with XBMC, but it is just a learning curve type of thing. Also, the pointer gets out of alignment very fast. you will be pointing it to the right, and the mouse will be on the left. To quickly fix this, just point the mouse the the left or right of the screen while moving the remote in that direction, and you will be back in alignment. There is also a way to do this with a Function key, but this way is quicker. The sound coming out of the remote issue has been fixed with the latest X7 firmware, and I believe that it will also cure the battery drain issue. I will report back if it doesn't.One other thing, if you want to control a Minix box for free, they have an app that you can download that turns your tablet or phone into a remote. If I didn't desire air mouse functionality, I might have stuck with that. It was a better option than the little keyboard/pad device I bought.

A2 - inoperative microphone and won't turn Minix U1 on.
Hi - I had great expectations for the A2 but ended up pretty disappointed. First the gyromouse works pretty well and the keyboard is excellent. I was using the unit with the new Minix U1. However there are a couple of problems: The U1 will not wake to an inpuit from the RF dongle that receives A2 signals and the A2 has no IR emitter. So I can turn the U1 off with the A2 but not back on. For that I either need to push the power button on the unit or use the small remote supplied with the U1. Also I could never make the microphone / speaker internal to the A2 operate with google. I spent the extra $$ for this control on the strength of the ability to do voice searches. That was a flat bust. I spent a lot of hours reading forums and doing searches with absolutely no resolution. The U1 is a new unit and perhaps further software updates will resolve this issue but for the moment it appears that A2 voice search is non-functional.

Do not buy this product if intended to use with Amazon Fire TV or G-Box Midnight devices !!!
I bought this product to use with my Amazon Fire TV. The headline for this product lists it for use with the Amazon Fire TV as well as other products. However, whenever the USB receiver is plugged in to the Amazon fire TV, the audio turns off through the audio system. I have tried pressing the Function + > button on the remote to try disabling and settings in the Amazon Fire TV, but nothing works. I am tech saavy and there doesn't appear to be a fix for it online, as well as Minix not offering a solution. There proposed solution is to buy one of their TV boxes which isn't a solution for me.I also tried using the remote with a G-Box midnight I have as well, but the audio turns off on that unit also as soon as the USB receiver for the remote is plugged in. There are cheaper remotes out there I could have purchased, but unfortunately the product was misinterepreted as being compatible with my Amazon Fire TV. The functions appear to work well with the Amazon Fire TV, and the remote seems well built, but without audio coming out of my system the unit is useless.

No volume when remote is plugged in
When I plug the Minix Neo A2 2.4G USB into my Minix x8-H, the volume of my TV, would be complete muted..I tried everything to get the volume back working. But the only thing that seem to work, was unplugging the USB.I even went to the Minix settings, to adjust the HDMI audio setting. Nothing seemed to work except unplugging the Minix Neo 2.4G, USB... After unplugging, all volume was restored...Plugged in the USB for the Minix remote again, thinking the situation had cleared itself up. No volume again.Unplugged the USB for the Minix remote, restoredFollowed directions for the Minix Neo 2.4G remote. Still no volume. After researching this remote, this is a regular problem that they're having with this model of the remoteI don't know if it depends on the model of your TV or version of your Minix box.

THERE IS NO WARRANTY, careful if you want to purchase
This is an awesome remote, when it works. I am giving a 1 star review for 4 reasons:1. THERE IS NO WARRANTY!!! yes, there is NO warranty from the manufacturer if you purchase this through Amazon, this goes for every company that Amazon randomly chooses to supply the Prime purchase. The company will dismiss you since it is your fault they have no warranty if you even attempt to call2. the batteries die in this remote after 3 days, replaced multiple times, makes no difference. This was used with XMBC3. Stops responding to input randomly, even with new batteries and light indicating input/transmit4. THERE IS NO WARRANTY!!! and they blame the customer for not purchasing directly through themLuckily bought with Prime, returned... such a shame, was a really awesome remote for XBMC
