Excellent Paired with Zen CAN!
My small £70 tube amp failed on me and I thought I'd take a gamble on this, together with the Zen 'CAN' to drive my headphones for watching the tV is listening to music on TIDAL. I was actually sick of seeing it in 'Top 10' reviews and I would immediately skim over it, since he design didn't appeal to me and it looked tacky.I couldn't have been more wrong. It's got a great build quality and the sound through Bluetooth 5.0 streamed from TV and ipad (Tidal) is the crispest I've ever heard. Let's remember though that the Zen CAN is in the chain though too! Signal is seemingly free of latency. It did take me a while to get it working due to the fact that I needed to switch it to 'analogue' on the back. Two things really let this unit down: The button is a nice metal material, but it's significantly loose (it rattles) and it also spins. This spoils the build. This is also true of the Zan CAN which has many buttons. (Secondly, the 'ifi' central light which colours according to the signal being received has blurred text. This is clearly intentional, but it doesn't look good. The logo looks washed out. I've seen on their other models they are doing this to an even greater degree. I doubt people want to see a washed out logo in comparison to a crisp looking one.Connecting to a source, the unit announces in a female british voice what kind of signal it is receiving which is a nice touch - albeit loud and unexpected at times. The TV and ipad picked up the unit within seconds.Together with the Zen CAN, this is running my Sennheiser 660s really well. I'm really happy with the sound and the two units look great stacked on my table. Very Bang & Olufsen, I feel. Quality product and a great price. I'm really pleased I took the gamble.

Great Solution for connecting Bluetooth music sources to your existing Hi Fi.
I was looking for something that would enable me to listen to my iTunes library and Spotify from my iPad via my existing Meridian Hi Fi system, mainly as a short term measure before I take the plunge and buy a high quality network streamer or streaming based system. I am using the SPDIF output from the Zen unit into a digital input on my Meridian 568.2 controller and 557 Power amp. The sound quality is excellent - I doubt in a blind listening test that I could tell it apart from a CD played on my Meridian 596 DVD player that I use as a CD transport. It really is that good.Plus points: great sound quality, easy to set up, analogue and digital outputs, bargain price.Negative points: The plug top power supply looks a bit cheap and cheerful, an upgrade is available at extra cost. The Bluetooth antenna is white rather than black so looks a bit odd against the rest of my system. But these are minor gripes really. Its a great bit of kit at a bargain price. Whats not to like?

A great value, great performance product
I wanted to add Bluetooth connectivity to my hi-fi separates system DAC. My previous Bluetooth receiver only had analogue audio out & I wanted one with digital audio out. I chose this on What Hi Fi? Magazine awards. It’s well made, solidly built & quick & easy to set up. Connection is automatic & very quick every time. The sound is bold & full bodied. An impressive sense of scale & timing with a good level of bass & clarity. This is a very impressive product for the price.

Worth every penny - you’ll hear every note
I’ve had SO many Bluetooth transmitters, receivers, converters, headphones and systems in recent years. To date they‘ve been patchy at best and a compromise every time. This is the first “add on” that actually works. And oh boy does it work!! The set up is THE easiest I’ve come across. The compatibility was 100% and it’s as simple as plug and play.BUT the difference is the sound - it’s awesome. I’m an audiophile and have 3 hifi setups around the house as well as an AV setup in the TV lounge. My frustration was not being able to reliably pump music from Amazon Music HD and Tidal (hi res) via my iPhone to my kitchen system (Ruark) while I’m cooking. The Ruark has Bluetooth but it’s lossy and droppy and sloppy. I plugged this Zen iFi into it and “bliss”. It works. It really works. I’m thrilled. The sound is the best I’ve heard in the kitchen. The What HiFi review was spot on. Okay, it’s not cheap - but it really is worth every penny. You will regret compromising with anything less. No, I’m not being sponsored! I really am that thrilled. Really.

Absolutely amazing!!
I DJ parties and such on the side. I wanted something simple but with great clarity and easy to use. If you have a newer phone that supports LDAC, get this! I have very high end Mackie SRM V class speakers that are bluetooth already. However, they are 4.2 version bluetooth and best bit rate is 16. This little gem in LDAC mode supports 32 bit rate and 5.0 bluetooth. The clarity is outstanding! At first I plugged directly into my sub and out to the speakers. This gave me the best overall sound, but I wanted better control over volume and tuning. So I then plugged it into my DJ controller. It lost a little sound, I mean almost couldn't tell, but I chaulk that up to my controller being older and running off of the RCA plugs. Going straight to the sub, I was using the balanced 4.4 mm jack. Better connection = better sound. The range is pretty good. I tested it at the highest LDAC setting, 990. I got about 60 ft away before it started to break up a little. Highest setting means cleaner sound but less range. Tested at 660 setting and got about 75 ft away. Equipment was inside and I was outside walking away, signal was going through a wall too. The bottom line is... The cleaner the source is, the more quality audio will be produced. That's what this little rig is all about.

Fantastico
