Great seed tray for the cost.
The tray and lid are a very cheap quality plastics, thin but serve it's purpose well. Bottom is water tight, and the top stays clear/clean. I bought it because of it's price at the time around $12. so I expected that cheap quality. The shipping packaging wasn't the best, so it distorted my item, by but no means should I base my review on the fault of the sender. If purchased in the store, this problem is easily solved by choosing one in better shape. Dimensions of width were a little bigger than I expected, being closer to 4 - 5 inches... going by the diameter of 2 peat discs and the spacing in between. My window sills are barely 2 1/2 inches, so I'll have to rig something up with small brackets. I've used it non-stop since purchase. It's kept in one spot on top of a heat mat, on a table instead, serving it's purpose there very well. It's been worth the cost since heavier trays are 3 or 4 times the price. This tray comes with 24 peat moss jiffy cups.***UPDATE*** 3-8-17I'm still using this and it's been holding up quite well in spite of the flimsy material. I mean the only thing I use it for is the germination process in "peat pellets" and as soon as they emerge I take them out and put them under my lights, on a soil covered tray. I do this so when the roots outgrow the peat pellet pod, they have medium to grow into. Very loose medium, so the roots don't get ripped when transplanting into their bigger containers. So far, I've had great success with this process... with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 plants total that died (out of 100s). They were usually carrot seeds I believe, and probably fault of my own by over watering or tad too moist. In addition to this tray, I use this on the appropriate sized heat mat, which I purchased separately around the same time.I have a minor dent at one end of the cover on top, not a big deal. This top also won't seal completely, but again, not an issue either because I feel some ventilation is good. The seal is good enough to where the condensation doesn't leak out, at least in my case, but as a precaution my whole setup (mat with tray & cover) are all on top of cardboard sheets, to absorb any moisture that may trickle out.***UPDATE***4-10-20It's now almost 5 years later, and I'm still using this greenhouse with the appropriate sized heat mat. The tray is starting to crack in a few places, but again, this things has served its purpose well. I usually use this greenhouse for the smaller seedlings... things like strawberries, a variety of flower like Columbine or Portulaca, and also the herbs like basils or mints. This is perfect for those as well as the Jiffy pods used. I like this particular greenhouse so much, I was here to buy another. The price has increased a bit at almost $20 now.... I'll add it to the cart and wait for it to drop in price again.Every season before use, I wash both portions of the greenhouse, the lid and tray. I use the kitchen sink and a bit of dishsoap, just to get any dust off but also help keep the mold or fungal spores down to a minimum. You just need to be careful, as the plastic is very thin and brittle... especially as it ages. No complaints here!

Too much money for what it is.
Too much money for what it is. The plastic is so thin that it bends at the minimum touch. The pellets are so small that won't stand the seeds. I 've founded a similar item much stronger, nicer and a little bit bigger for half the money (without the seeds). In short: not worth the money.

Works Well, but a tad fragile
My first one came damaged. (It was Bitterly Cold here and it was packed Tightly in the box, the plastic "Brown" base part shattered and split.) ONE Email and a new one was on its way to replace at NO CHARGE, and it arrived safely so NO Problems with That. For the reviewer who said it was hard to open the netting ? (said they used a "Plastic Knife and Spoon" ?? You use a SPOON? to open a net ? Anyway, after I watered mine and they (to use another reviewers word "POOFED UP") I found that about 70-80% of them had split open on their own in the "Poofing" process. When they arrive, the little (Lets call them "Pellets") of compressed growth medium have a sort of Flat Side and the other had a (Lets call it "Dimple") in the middle of it. Turn them as needed to put the "Dimples" UP and flat side Down. The Dimples seem to split open as they swell with water. for those that did Not open on their own, I just pulled out my trusty pocket knife made One Tiny Poke in the middle (Cuts like Warm Butter, ZERO Effort) and Wiggle the blade inside a time or two and you have all the "Fluffing" you need. I "Fluffed" in the process of making a small hole in the middle of each wet pellet (a place to put the seeds) maybe 1/4 inch deep or so and about the diameter of a pencil or maybe a tad smaller. drop a seed or two in (I always do doubles in each) and just kept using the pocket knife blade to pat the wet material over the top of the seeds. Pour the water in and wait for them to "POOF" then the opening the net, dropping seeds in and covering them back up part took me .... 5 minutes ? TOPS. and I can report 100% germination of seeds at this point.Very Happy and back today to buy several more. I'm growing veggies I plat in series (like carrots) where its a new batch ever 2 weeks, so I need more trays, but once you have enough trays, you can just by the pellets and re-use the boxes again.Last Note; I had another much larger 72 cell tray that came with a electric warming pad. I decided to cheat a bit and moved it over enough so the big tray and this little one could share some warmth and it made a BIG DIFFERENCE. I had 2 or 3 pellets sprouting before. put it on the pad and Overnight ALL of the other pellets sprouted. (MAYBE just lucky timing ??.... but Im also back to buy another warming pad (or two) to help out. (And if you DO ?? The Thermometer control unit is Needed. The warming pads can COOK your seeds if not controlled.Good Luck

Terrific for limited space (windowsill) and with care, can be used many, many times.
I purchased a narrow heat pad to use with the Jiffy Greenhouse and it's the ideal growing product, both for seed starting and micro greens. Love my Jiffy Windowsill Greenhouses! I highly recommend this product. I have used both the peat pellets and seed soil. Have to be cautious when using the soil as it increases the weight when handling the greenhouses, but with care, they hold up well. This is my go-to product from now on!

Great size, too thin bottom tray.
Pros: Size - they fit great on a window sill and are very deep and can hold the extra tall Jiffy 7 replacement cells. The top is tall so plants can grow longer before needing to take off the top.Cons: the plastic terra cotta colored bottom tray is very thin. I had 2 orders damaged in shipping, one through UPS and one through Post Office. Part shippers fault, part packing issue, part thin, crushable product.I accepted the 2nd order and just used a silicone caulking to reinforce the corners and dents. In picking up the greenhouses to move them to a different window, the bottom tray has several cracks and splits near the very thin top of tray and I will have to use a lot more caulking to be able to use them next year. If the bottom tray was thicker and more sturdy I would give this a 5 star rating because the size is awesome.
