On the one hand, my six-year-old grandson loved this so much I couldn't possibly rate it less than 4 stars. On the other hand, there are enough drawbacks from the point of view of the adults in the family that I couldn't possibly rate it more than 4 stars.Once we put the batteries in and turned it on, it seemed so realistic to my grandson that he was a little afraid of it at first. Then within five minutes he overcame the fear and loved it so much he must have had it turned on for at least 12 of the next 48 hours. He set up countless imaginative scenarios with it, including having it threaten his other toy figures. It was far and away his favorite of the several Christmas gifts he received this year, and that is very gratifying for a grandparent to see.Now here are the drawbacks from the adult perspective:1. It has only a rather basic and highly repetitive behavior. She shuffles forward about 10 inches while making a sort of growling sound. She then stops and roars while standing still. Then it goes back to shuffling forward and growling again. True, her eyes light up bright green and there is a red LED bulb inside the mouth that lights up. If you have injected water into the back of her head, she will shoot it out out of her mouth in a fine mist when she roars, and the red light will reflect off the mist in a way that looks like fire. That's impressive enough, but it confuses the distinction between a T. Rex and a fire-breathing dragon. The toy also comes with eggs that if inserted through a port in her back, she will unceremoniously drop one on the floor every few inches when she is in the shuffling forward stage. As far as her behavior goes, that's it. Given that we live in the age of inexpensive microprocessors, it is a mystery why they didn't design in more adaptive, or at least interesting, behavior.2. The growling and roaring are loud, and as far as we could tell, there was no designed way to mute it. Even if you tell the child to take the toy into another room, the grating, highly repetitive noises will carry throughout the house, and seriously get on the nerves of everyone else present.3. The little plastic vial supplied for injecting the water into the head is so cheaply made that it cracks open on just the 2nd or 3rd use. My grandchildren found that with careful effort they could pour in a little water using a shot glass, but they naturally end up spilling some, and it was definitely less convenient less convenient for them.I will have to say though that except for the vial, this toy seems quite solidly made and will likely stand up to a lot of use (which is both good and bad). I am also impressed by how long the batteries last in it. After many hours of use, it was still going strong on the first set of alkaline batteries.

Great gift

Dinosaur is sturdy and too cool. It’s scary and the smoke that comes out of its mouth is too cool. I wish it held more water. I wasn’t a fan of the eggs because they are a choke hazard. Otherwise super cool gift and great quality

Loved everything about it except he stopped walking about the third time I turned him on to show my husband. If he hadn’t stopped walking it would have been a perfect toy. He was suppose to be a toy for my grandchildren to enjoy but they never got to. Needless to say I did return it. I can’t say that I would recommend this toy.

First of all, I bought these for a 2 and 3 year old for Christmas based entirely on the first review I read by June Lewis. She nailed it. Read her detailed review for exact description. This Dino is freakishly loud and repetitive. She also lays eggs and breathes fire. Some reviewers found the fire-breathing confusing but since it’s unlikely to lead to long-lasting beliefs about dinosaurs that will be impossible to refute, feel free to enjoy the clever addition. The children the Dino’s were purchased for LOVE them. The constant roaring at high decibels can be diminished by wearing ears buds and listening to your favorite NPR podcast.
