Takes a washing and keeps on working
By accident my son left this attached to his shirt and ran it through the washing machine, then through the dryer. When folding clothes, he found the unit and it wouldn't power up. A week later, I plugged the unit into my computer, it powered up and I was able to download all 19 files and play them! I would not recommend doing this but it did hold up and is still functioning! an amazing product and a super price!

Great product
it arrived on time (prime membership). As much as I like the item, it only worked as an mp3 player perfectly on the first day and then there was a second time where it works as an mp3 player. However, after that, I have tried so many times to listen to the songs I have put inside, it did not work.It is said that to playback, I have to plug in my earphone and I did that, but the light indicator only turns red. I really do not know what to do with the item... Can someone please help me?Update: After a few days, I have finally figured out how to use it. If you are using earphone with a mic and would like to playback, just do like what is stated in the instruction AND press the earphone's "button" (or whatever it is called) and wait until the light turns blue. If you don't do this, it will only start recording Thanks a lot to the staff who emailed me and tried to help me. Really appreciate itEdit 2: after about a month of having this item, it's still working great. I sit at in front of the class and use the item to record lectures. The voice recorded is very clear :) highly recommend.

Don't buy this!
I really wanted to like this product...I needed it badly. First two recordings went well. Great sound and I easily transferred the files to my laptop. Third recording went well so I thought. Played it back in the headphones and it had good sound and volume. Got it home and tried to transfer the 3rd recording to my laptop and nothing happened! The files no longer show up as being on the device so there is no way I can transfer them!!!! In addition, they do NOT start playing when earphones are plugged it, I have to press the + button forever until I happen to stumble across one. I am soooooo frustrated with this!! The company send me an email to see how I liked their product...I wrote back and haven't heard from them yet. Don't buy this. If they can fix it for me I will come back and add a follow up to my review.

MUST READ-BUYERS SHOULD KNOW
Most of the time I get quality products from Amazon. This was the biggest disappointment to date. It worked the first four short recordings, then stopped functioning afterwards. The "on/off" button stopped responding, and stayed on. When it did work in the beginning, I had to push and pull the earphone connector to the right place to hear playback. Otherwise just static. I sent an email to their website requesting help with the issue. Absolutely no response at all. The saying that you get what you pay for rings true with this product. I paid $36.99 for four 5-10 second recordings. That's $9.25 per recording. I would assume all of their products are of the same poor grade. BUYER BEWARE

Not the best for classroom settings
I bought this to record lectures for class. The first day I was excited to test it out based on all the positive reviews, but I was so disappointed. I could barely hear the lecture, the recorder picked up all kinds of background noises (students coughing, pages being turned, etc). I will give it another try in class, maybe sit in the front row, to see if it makes a difference. If not, will definitely be returning.

Success! And some advice, especially for Linux users...
I tried taking some audio on the recorder. I noticed the recording was cutting out. It wasn't just cutting out silent sections, it was cutting out a lot! Short answer: the default audio player in Linux mint had trouble with the WAV format, and was losing about 50% of the audio. When I tried playing the file through VLC I was able to get the whole audio - no problem. My suggestion? if you are having the same trouble try using a different audio player on your computer.Sound was very good given the size of the device (and microphone.) Happy with my purchase and the value.

Works as advertised, but....
Works as advertised, but the recording quality is poor especially in larger rooms. I needed a recorder for lectures, and although I could sometimes make out a voice on the recorder, I could never understand it. I was recording a lecture in a 50 person classroom; I imagine this would not work at all in a lecture hall. The controls are confusing, and vary based on whether headphones are inserted or not.Unless you really need something this small, and can tolerate poor performance and quality, keep looking.

Choppy audio cuts conversations into pieces
I don't write reviews, but I chose to for this one because it did not live up to my expectation. It seemed to work relatively okay, aside from terrible audio quality and an absurd amount of static that leaves your ears ringing after listening to it for more than a minute. However, after I left it running for four hours, it only recorded 1 hour of content and chopped in and out of conversations, making it entirely useless. Tidbits of conversations are useless! If you don't get all the content, it's worse than having nothing at all if you don't understand it. Would NOT recommend.
