Kookaburra Licorice, Strawberry

I'm a huge Twizzlers addict so I was intrigued by this Australian licorice when I saw it for sale in bulk at a local shop. I bought several pounds and WOW- delicious!Kookaburra licorice is soft but not gummy, tart but not sour, and has a lovely taste that doesn't have the weird waxy, slightly-too-sweet taste Twizzlers do. My husband, who also loves Twizzlers (but not at the same level I do) doesn't love the Kookaburra. But if you eat both Strawberry and Cherry Twizzlers, the flavor of this is sort of a mix of the two. It's lovely.However, the price point here is way too high. If you have a grocery store that sells candy in bulk nearby, I would head over there. This is NOT a large bag for $10- it's about 1/3rd the size of a potato chip bag. So do your price comparison, but don't miss out. This stuff is probably my new favorite candy, and just addicted to it.

I think this was old stock. The black licorice I got is soft and chewy. This is hard and hard to bite into. The strawberry is very disappointing

Bought for my husband. He thought okay, but not like the old fashioned licorice sticks he had as a kid.

Definitely one of the best licorices I've tried. More expensive than what I'm usually willing to spend on candy, but for a special treat or gift, they're well worth it. Really thick and flavorful, almost melt in your mouth unlike really tough and gummy licorices like Twizzlers. I hate using the word gourmet, but these earn the title. I wish I could buy locally.

Heed other reviewers notes! I bought this hoping they were wrong, but this is not like the old Kookaburra strawberry licorice. The flavor is sharp, oddly tangy. Not nearly as enjoyable as either an old recipe or manufacturer of the licorice and not recommended, especially for the price.If you have no expectations, an okay licorice, I suppose - it's soft and chewy, which is still one in this licorice's favor.

This stuff doesn't have the same texture or flavor of actual kookaburra licorice. It tastes like Red Vines and isn't as soft as the regular stuff. It is still palatable, however, just not like kookaburra licorice.

I have to say i love licorice & usually just buy The strawberry Twizzler brand. which is good However, that was the only Licorice i had ever know until this one theRed Kookaburra from Australia, was brought to my attention. I tell you it's great, soft & packed with flavor & I love it. it's not hard to find & has a reasonable price too! I bought my 1st pack at the grocery store then ordered 2 packs from Amazon for extras.

This did not taste the same. I am so disappointed. I didn’t realize it could not be returned, so I wasted $11.98.
