Starwest Botanicals Organic Nutritional Yeast Powder, 1 Pound

This is the best nutritional yeast product I love the flavor. It's got that serious nutty taste. Amazing....so unfortunately I reordered it and when it came it was not the same country of origin and the new bag doesn't taste as good. It has a bitterness to it the last bag( from Germany) didn't have. Disappointed

It doesn’t look like nutritional yeast and doesn’t taste like any I’ve ever used before. That aside, the flavor is unappealing. I tossed it into the garbage. Totally wasted my time, money and I still had to buy more.

I was leery of purchasing this product because of the mixed reviews. However, I saw that most of the complaints were about the flavor and how powdery it was. I ended up pulling the trigger because I wanted it for its nutritional value more than its use as a condiment. Being that is was the only non-fortified organic nutritional yeast I could find that was being sold in the United States, I truly had no other option in my mind. I must say I really, really enjoy the flavor! It is so much bolder than other brands I have used in the past. I must let you know that I love strong sauerkraut, pickled vegetables, and when I use to eat it, very pungent cheese. I am all about bitter and sour flavors. But, if you have a typical American diet, you probably wont like this flavor. Really who cares? Its so packed with natural nutrients its worth stomaching that taste. The first few times I got a nice warm feeling all over, which was a result of the strong presence of B vitamins.

This product has a unique taste I enjoy. I dislike that this product does not have a nutrition label. It should. As a result, I will not be buying it again, which is sad.

My cat LOVES it. Brewer's yeast has been an effectual flea repellant for a few years now.As for me ... This tastes to me like powdered miso, which I like but I prefer the flavor of the less expensive brewer's yeast for popcorn.

Just figuring out that I’m either glten intolerant or have celiac disease and I’ve suffered with anxiety and lightheaded/dizziness especially now in the withdrawl phase. I looked up nutritional yeast to see if it’s gluten free and yes was the answer but my package says may contain wheat as you can see in the pic. I tried a trace amount of it in a sauce that i made last night and afterwards my anxiety was very high and rapid heart rate so i now know that the one i have does contain gluten. The picture for this particular one that I’d exactly the same as the one i purchased does not have the wheat warning on it so I’m not sure what that’s about so i wanted to share with everyone with gluten issues my experience with this product.Aside from that i love the taste it creates in sauces but i will obviously not be using it any longer.

I have been using nutritional yeast for 40 years and this product tastes horrible, in my opinion. We won't use it. I am not comfortable returning an open package so we are stuck. If I can find a friend who likes the taste I will give it to them. Otherwise, I will toss it. It's not the seller's fault that we find the taste disgusting. But, if you are used to nutritional yeast powder that has been around for all these years I would stick with it even though it is not organic.

Since I am vegan, I use this product to add flavor to my pastas, popcorn and other savory dishes.
