Comprehensive, concise, fun
- Excellent and nearly-comprehensive book of body MRI cases (as well as chapters on breast, thoracic and MSK findings, as well as an artifacts chapter). If you prefer case books to more standard texts I highly recommend this book as the cases are easy to go through quickly and the total coverage rivals if not exceeds traditional texts of similar length/scope. Also, because it's case based you are guaranteed images of every diagnosis (a frequent annoyance of traditional texts is that they often omit images of many of the described diseases - up to 25% in my experience).- Lots of the covered diseases have historically gone by various names that have changed over time, and this variable/shifting nomenclature can easily confuse. Thankfully these offers routinely clarify these nomenclature issues and usually indicate their source (often the latest WHO nomenclature). In this respect I find this book more up to date than many other contemporary texts.- This book is fun to read with mild sarcasm or self deprecating humor thrown into most of the discussions.

Excellent Text. I highly recommend this book as it is full of useful information. Only criticism I have is that a list of references at the end of each section for more in depth review would have been helpful.

The 12 months free online offer is expired
The book had a sticker on it that says free online access for 12 months, I purchased this book in May of 2016, the offer was expired on Sept 2015. I wanted to get an online version but since I had opened up the wrap I could not send it back.I am stuck with a heavy book that I cannot carry around.

"I have been doing this for years, read the journals, walked the landscape and here is what you need to know" type of text.
I recommend this text. I am ten years post abdominal fellowship, in private practice, and have recently recertified. I praise the authors for the conversational tone and occasional humor. The bulleted styled texts and statistically heavy journals, often leave me with the feeling of, “just tell me what you think. I will take your word on it.” My brain preferentially remembers concepts over facts.A few random examples to illustrate my point: “Nearly every review article addressing the topic of MRI in rectal carcinoma notes that gadolinium dos not increase the accuracy of either the tumor or the circumferential resection margin staging. This is probably true but what is left unsaid is that nevertheless, nearly everyone uses gadolinium for a couple of reasons …” or “… In any event, a splenic lesion with early and persistent enhancement and T2 hyperintensity is likely a hemangioma, even if it doesn’t strictly meet all of the criteria for a hepatic hemangioma…” or “A few papers have assessed the ability of DWI and DCE imaging to distinguishing BPH from carcinoma in the transition zone. In general, there is significant overlap in the measured ADC values and parametric kinetic parameters, although criteria based on a combination of the 2 have shown some promise.”Keeping in mind the Anderson Cooper public relations debacle, I will comment little with regard to the recertification exam. However, I read the sections directed at my greatest needs for self-improvement and they were educational.I really like this book for the words rather than just the images. The authors are forthright and render useful judgments.

Similar to the Mayo Clinic GI Imaging Review, this text presents information in a well-organized case based format. The book is authored by two experts in the field of MR imaging and this comes across in the in-depth discussions and excellent images present throughout the text. As a radiologist with an interest in advanced body MR imaging I found the text incredibly comprehensive and useful. I particularly enjoyed the cutting edge sections on GI, breast, and prostate MR imaging. As more body imaging is done routinely with MRI, I believe this text will become THE reference source for radiologists of all levels. Highly recommended!
