Billions Season 4 [DVD] [2019]

More nefarious dealings in the New York world of high finance and justice system
Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) is elected Attorney General for New York whilst Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) pursues a campaign of revenge against his erstwhile protegee Taylor Mason who has left Axe Capital to set up their own hedge fund business in direct competition. Maybe I should point out for newcomers to Billions that the use of the word "their" is deliberate as Mason is a gender neutral character as is Asia Kate Dillon who plays the part.Non of the characters are particularly likeable (unlike say in Succession where the individual's flaws are a major part of their charm) and they each pursue their various goals with a ruthlessness bordering on the psychotic seemingly unconcerned about any fall-out their actions might cause. This is especially relevant for Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff) who is made to suffer after her husband publicly reveals his compulsion for sado-masochistic sex as a ploy to enable him to keep his campaign to prove corruption claims against the U.S. Attorney General on track.Despite all this Billions remains compulsively watchable and is a perfect vehicle for binge watching without having to worry too much about any plot holes.. Just sit back and enjoy the ghastliness of all concerned.. If reports are to be believed audiences in the U.S, continue to grow year on year and Season 5 is due to be launched in Spring 2020.Audio : EnglishSubtitles: English SDH onlyExtras: Pick A Side / Inside Fight Night / Script To Screen / Billions References.

FULL ATTENTION NEEDED AS MACHINATIONS ABOUND
More top level shenanigans in the heart of New York. Enemies encircle. Former foes billionaire Axe and ex-Attorney Chuck join forces to try bring them down.Much in evidence here is the unacceptable face of capitalism, politics and law - apparently not so far removed from reality, certain storylines based on notorious cases.Twelve hour long episodes depict attempts by all to outmanoeuvre, events often going off in totally unexpected directions. Adversaries include Axe's former protege(e) the brilliant Taylor, now set up in opposition and truly a force to reckon with; vindictive Attorney Connerty determined by fair means or foul to bring down his predecessor Chuck.Cleverly constructed scripts. (Just how clever perhaps only fully realized with the final episode's shock revelations - certain characters, not to mention viewers, discovering how skilfully for so long completely wrongfooted.)Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis head the impressive cast. Admittedly there is hardly a single likeable character around and much that goes on represents an abuse of power that hardly inspires respect. For many the series may be rendered more palatable by the welcome comic aspects.Everybody on self-destruct with much collateral damage en route? That appears very likely, but perhaps clear winners may emerge. Or have they? Even at the very end, all may not be as it seems. The stage is thus set for a fifth season of hostilities in this highly polished, acclaimed series.

This Show May Have Already Peaked.
Not as good as seasons 1 & 2. Or 3, which wasn't quite right, but wasn't terrible. This isn't terrible, but standards are slipping in the writers' room.Get over it writers. Do better. Just do it.Season 5 (when it happens, if it hasn't already happened - I don't think it has, but I might have missed it) is the last chance for this show with me. I don't like mediocre drama. This isn't mediocre, but it's heading that way.

Ambition and corruption
Ambition leading to corruption of each character in turn is deliciously portrayed. This series, I found, improved after the first season. Despite the politically correct introduction of a character referring to themselves in the plural. I only hope the writers have an end in sight and don't get silly!

A bit far fetched but still a "guilty pleasure"
Billions- season 4 - stays easily at the top of my favourite shows. The pyrotecni dialogues, the stellar performances byDamian Lewis and Paul Giamatti and by the rest of the cast put this show again in the front line among the best and most entertaining series of the last five years. The count back for season 5 has started. Can't wait to warch it!

Was worth Billions
Locked down in lockdown with Billions didn't seem so bad. I binge watched this box set. I'd say on par with Season 1. Come on there must be a Season 5. You can't leave us hanging. Far too good to give up now! I loved it!!!!

Power Corrupts!
Power corrupts! The motivation is not about money for Axe and Rhodes but the destruction of each other at whatever cost and season 4 doesn't disappoint these 2 couldn't stay allies for long roll on season 5.
