Niman Ranch, Applewood Smoked Uncured Bacon, 12 oz

UPDATE: I'm not sure what's going on, or whether it's a problem with the producer or distribution (both?) but we've had some not-so-great batches of this bacon. With a large family, we go through a lot of bacon and have made this our go-to brand and have loved it for the past 6 months. Unfortunately, in the past month or so, we've gotten some that is overly fatty where 2/3-3/4 of each slice cooks off. We've also had batches that seem like they were frozen, thawed and refrozen where the fat is all crumbly and the slices disintegrate as you take them out of the box.Overall, the bacon is still exceptional about 90% of the time and we still buy it. But the few times we've had bad batches results in losing some stars.Initial review: This could be the best bacon I've ever had. It's particularly delicious after it was bought on sale! Good thickness, delicious flavor, and not too fatty.

Overpowers what otherwise tastes like good bacon. Nutrition table shows 50% more salt and cholesterol than this brand in it's Maple flavored version (with sugar!). Struck me as odd that without sugar this product has 50% more carbs. Would not buy again, instead choosing their Maple flavored bacon.

I didnt think it was possible, but this bacon is not good. Flavorless bacon.

Package slightly hard to open, without cutting it (unable to preserve reclosure). The thickness was good but this bacon was extremely salty.

Sooo goood

It’s cut nice and thick (not the thickest but a very good slice) and the meat is raised well. That’s where the positives end. Ultimately, it’s way, way too fatty and too salty for US bacon. If you like Welsh/English style fatty salty bacon, this is for you. But I find that to be completely unbalanced and lacks repeatability. I certainly like my bacon to have fat, and be saline, but not uncontrollably so.
