Vitamin C Showerhead - Sharper Image - Opus International LLC

I really like this showerhead. I purchased this because my dry skin has begun to itch more and more over the past 2 years or so. I first thought it was the shower gels that I used but changing them did nothing for the itching. Changing lotions did not do anything either. Then my hair started to become dryer and more damaged. I keep changing my routines but the problems remain. While doing some research to help moisturize my hair, I read a few articles about chloramine. I have no idea if this is the route of my problems but in the two weeks I have had the shower head, I have had far less itching on my arms and legs. My hair still extremely dry but somethings are not solved overnight.When my municipality was using cholrine, we did not always smell it. Some weeks the smell would be strong and then for months on end we would not smell it at all. We do not smell the chloramine in our water.On Amazon I compared the few styles available for Vit C showerheads. I like the simplicity of this one, so I purchased the one that cost the least. This Sharper Image Vitamin C Showerhead is the same as the Aroma Sense AS-9000 from what I could tell but it is $18 less.I like the pressure of the water. It is feels like more pressure but the water is aerated, so it feels great as you stand under the showerhead. Shampooing your hair and rinsing the suds is comfortable and quick. I like the amount of coverage. On the vitamnin C insert, I did a half turn to open the cartridge and get access to the vit c. This can always be changed later but I have no way to test the water to know if I am allowing enough vit c to mix with the water to neutralize the chloramine. When you turn on the water, as the water warms up, you begin to smell the scent of lemon. It really smells really good when you first open the shower door and get in the shower. I am not one for the citrus craze where all of your household products smell like a fake lemon or orange but this one smells really good. By the time I am finished using my shower gels and facial cleansers etc, I don’t smell the lemon any more. I don’t know if it has stopped mixing or if it is the scents of my other products have overshadowed the lemon. I will continue to use this product. I may give another review when this cartridge is empty. OPUS International/Aroma Sense has a non-scented cartridge but I suggest using a scented one first so that you know how much vit c to mix. An unscented one would give you no external clues. There is also a jasmine scented one you can get on Amazon tooI gave three stars because of cost/materials value. This thing is simple (that’s good) but PLASTIC. The only stainless is the part that connects to you house plumbing. I don’t know materials cost but this has to be 10 cents worth of plastic for the showerhead. I don’t know how much the cartridge cost to make but ascorbic acid has to be dirt cheap. It looks good. Replacement parts are $25. a piece so replacing 4 times a year is an additional 100 bucks for maintenance. Also the filter needs to be replace based on the amount of dirt it collects from your water. An extra one comes in the box but they cost also.If you are concerned about chloramine, I say go for it. Put it in your guest bath and try it out from time to time. Or put it in the main bath and see how the family likes it. We will be using this going forward. From time to time we will also be shopping for one less expensive.
