I purchased the film to see Joe Pesci and to understand why the film has never been shown. Grinning during the first dialogue I knew that this would be fun, flaws and all. The film is a character actor's dream and each character well chosen. Helen Mirren never flags on energy and stays in character through prepostorous script. If you did not know the scope of her work you do after 'Love Ranch'. The 'r' scenes are intended to say,"We want you to know that we do not love the business of prostitution and its hazards. This is our story."Catherine Ghostley

If you can ignore all the cussing and just focus on the plot and main characters, you will probably like this movie. In my opinion, it is a great one. I love it because of the plot and, of course, Helen Mirren does an amazing job. I loved her character and she played Grace well. Saw Love Ranch on Netflix when they were streaming it and I loved it so much that I bought it to add to my collection.

The movie is based on the theme of an older woman and a young guy falling for each other, but the relationship between Helen Mirren and the Argentinian is not convincing. Some of the scenes with Joe Pesci are worth watching but overall there's nothing special about this movie.

This is a good story. It is well acted andthe performances from Helen Mirren andJoe Pesci are excellent. However becauseof the story and language etc. this one isfor grown-ups not for children.

New Mexico plays a perfect Reno NV and this film was very well done for the subject matter. Very tasteful yet edgy film. Helen Mirren is a treasure. Joe Pesci is amazing. Taylor Hackford did an amazing job capturing the mood of this film. Great work by newcomer Sergio Peris-Mencheta.

Other reviews have described the movie's content perfectly. I've nothing to add to any of them. But to me, this was a very funny, well-acted, beautifully photographed movie. Hellen Mirren was just excellent and so was Joe. If type casting were banned, many actors would no longer work. Pesci does his character as really only he can, and it fit here as well as it ever has elsewhere. The image of a small, inelegant, cheesy, gaudy pleasure palace destination isolated in a vast, at times frozen, desert worked great for me.I'd seen the Biography version of the story and thought this was well done fun.

I love this movie I've been waiting to get a hold of it thank you so much and it came in excellent condition other than it looks like the picture cover had gotten wet and dried. Other than that I'm happy

On le savait déjà Taylor Hackford est un grand réalisateur peu prolifique mais dont les films font date.Love Ranch n'échappe pas à la règle. Et pourtant ce film reçu un accueil glacial aux USA et fût éreinté par la critique. On comprend facilement pourquoi. Non seulement, se basant sur une histoire vraie, il aborde le thème de l'amour entre une femme vieillissante (Grace), tenancière de maison close et un superbe jeune boxeur argentin (fort bien interprété par Sergio Peris Mencheta) mais s'attaque frontalement au puritanisme américain sur le plan de la sexualité (nous sommes dans les années 1970 dans un ranch proche de Reno dans la première maison close légale du Nevada et on s'aperçoit que les opposantes n'ont toujours pas changé en 2017. C'est le triomphe du Tea Party avec tout son lot d'obscurantisme et d'hypocrisie), à la corruption des policiers et des politiques et au racisme face à la communauté latino américaine.Aucun manichéisme dans ce film qui se déroule la plupart du temps dans les décors naturels apocalyptiques du Nevada à la nature sèche, désertique et hostile. Les images sont superbes et saisissantes.Quant à Helen Mirren (épouse du réalisateur) dans le rôle de Grace elle est tout bonnement exceptionnelle et bouleversante.Un superbe film qui ne peut pas laisser indifférent.

Edizione in lingua francese di un film che forse in Italia non verrà mai distribuito e che comunque vale la pena di vedere, se non altro per la solita interpretrazione superba di Helen Mirren, che con l'età sembra migliorare, sia come attrice che come donna. Un Joe Pesci all'altezza della situazione, ormai la sua interpratazione del mafioso è diventato un classico. Una storia che si dipana in una "casa di tolleranza" in un posto sperduto del Nevada, dove il proprietario, Joe Pesci, si preoccupava di tenere le pubbliche relazioni, con lo sceriffo assunto e pagato come protettore e quelle private invece con una ragazza del locale, che riceveva le sue attenzioni, mentre la sua compagna di vita, Helen Mirren, si occupava dei conti e del benessere delle ragazze del locale.Tutto procedeva più o meno tranquillamente, quando a Joe Pesci viene in mente di sponsorizzare un pugile argentino e di portarlo per allenarsi nel locale di sua proprietà, dando l'incarico di sorvegliarlo alla sua compagna.......
