Great for fun, not for learning.
This bow is what it claims to be. It is a small compound bow with 2 arrows and an armguard. Everything arrived whole with no defects. It was a gift for my 10 year old son who had only shot a bow once or twice. While, this bow can help kids learn the mechanics of knocking, drawing, and releasing, there just is not enough weight in the setup to practice accuracy. The arrows barely make it to the target 10 meters away. I am an experienced archer and the flight of the arrows was so sporadic that I could not even make contact with the target.Again, this bow is what it claims to be. Bear Archery never makes claims that this is intended to be precise or more powerful than it is. However, I was expecting a little more. As I stated in that heading, it is great for kids to have fun, but not great for truly learning archery. I would not recommend for anyone over 8 years old.

Spend a little more and get something that works.
I realize it's a $40 bow, but it's just bad, and really frustrating for my daughter. Either because of a weak limb or just crap design/mfg, even from 5ft away, the non-adjustable sight hits 2ft to the right, even with me shooting it. I even tried it with my release. You literally have to hold the string 6-8" away from your face for it to hit around where the pin it, and like I say, this is from 5ft away. I just returned it and bought her a Diamond Atomic and she loves it.

Great Starter Bow for young child
I purchased this bow and arrow package for my 7 yr. old girl. I was very pleased with the quality of the bow, arrows, and accessories that came in the package. The color is accurate, the arrows were straight and the fletching on the arrows was in good condition. My daughter was able to go right to shooting once out of the package. The shipping was terrible, I ordered this as an Amazon Prime 3 to 5 day ship and it was over 3 weeks before arrival and the original box was destroyed and had to be reboxed. The rebox was even almost destroyed.Overall pleased and would recommend a good way to introduce your child to safely shooting a bow and arrow. I would also order extra arrows to keep around.

Good starter for a 6-year old
I got this for my 6-yr old grandson after noticing how much he enjoyed shooting a Nerf bow toy. He really likes having a "real" bow like his dads and has been consistent in going out to practice. It's good to see a young kid learning to do something by listening to his parents and seeing that he can't hit the bullseye every time and how much practice helps. I think it teaches very good basic skills. I didn't want to spring for a better quality bow for a starter so this was a good first test with something that's a step above a toy. In a year or two I may review something of a higher level if he sticks with it.

Bear spirit review from a bow hunter
My kids have the spirit, brave, scout. I'd take the scout over the spirit. Spirit doesnt pack any power. Arrows just drop.It has a whisker biscuit that helps compared to arrow rest. The bow days it's ambidextrous but when you shoot left handed, the fletchings hit the cables. My daughter likes it because it's purple. I wish they made a scout in purple.

Great for very small children, quickly outgrown
Overall a good product for very small children, very quickly outgrown due to very very light poundage, which is the point I suppose.

Not Adjustable. Go Purchase an adjustable bow.
The description makes it sound adjustable. It is not!!! So it is almost impossible to get the child to draw it correctly as the natural action is to pull it all the way back even if it is too long of a pull. Also the arrows it comes with are very cheap.

Great kids starter.
Great bow for the younger archers. Good for a starter to see if they are really interested before putting some money down for an upgraded compound.
