Factory SpecFS-918, Air Filter for Yamaha Grizzly 550, 700 Replaces OEM# 3B4-14451-00-00

So, after 9 years of ownership I finally got around to changing my Air Filter in my Grizzly 550. It only took about 5 minutes tops to pull off the seat, remove the four plastic screws holding the gas tank cover molding off and 6 clips later I was at my air filter. Needless to say that old filter was grimed up. This one popped right on in it's place and everything back together and no issues to report.

I was not impressed after unpacking and installing. It is nowhere near the same quality as a stock filter. The foam is less dense than stock. The filter does not come preoiled. The filter is the same shape but slightly larger than original and it was a challenge installing as it does not want to lay flat in the housing after being folded in the packaging.

One look at the filter out of the box and its obvious it is impossible for this filter to perform to factory standards. The foam material is not near as dense as factory. I don't doubt it breathes better but it won't provide the same level of filtration. Depends on whats important to you. Shouldn't be advertised as factory filtration though.

I have purchased this filter and have been running with them for 10 years and the only reason I replace it was my SOP for PM. Not necessarily due to needing to replace it. In fact I purchase 2 sets of the filters to R&R as needed and clean the filter later when I have some down time...

Nice 2 layer filter. My original one was crumbling and I can never find the time to go to the dealership. The fit was perfect. I used PJ oil in a spray can to saturate it. Do this in an old shopping bag to cut down on mess and overspray

Works as the original did

Have 2009 Grizzley 550. Filter element correct shape but a bit oversize by about 1/8 inch. It will work but you have to make sure none of it is over hanging when putting filter housing together. Quality appears ok.
