GREAT Device with Weak Durability !
Everything that's there in the KINDLE, I simply love it, I've been using it for almost 9-10 months now.The best part is obviously its display and ironically thats the weakest part too.And for that I had my kindle replaced 3 times now and this is the forth one I have. But I dont have hard complains because amazon has been replacing amazingly without any hassle the kindle to me.But I'm worried what happens once my warranty is over because am from India and guess once again even with me taking utmost care if it gets bad, am probably done with KINDLE then.Anyway still going to the point, here 's the pros and cons list:KINDLE KEYBOARDPROS:1) Amazing E-Ink Display2) The physical keyboard3) Wifi- 3g connectivity4) Mp3 and good loud speakers5) Really light weight6) Whispersyn is great7) Reading on the kindle is Amazing experience esp. when you have thousands of books for it.8) Text to Speech good9) Quite a varied amount of formats supported specially when you have the Cailbre software with you, its great tool to manage everything in kindle via PC.10) Nicely placed page turn buttons on both side.11) Good feel to touch the kindle.12) The best kindle among all the others available because Kindle touch, has its disadvantages and going through all others, am glad that this kindle still remains the best of amazon's innovations.13)Decent browser for quick google searches and emails, thats it.14) Great in-built Oxford dictionary and lookup.15) Loooong battery backup, I'm a heavy user with Wifi ON the whole time and yet I get a week's time of reading till I start searching for the charger.16) Great outdoor reading, you hardly feel its a screen, almost.and Now the real thing :CONS:1) Poor Screen durability, it can crack with the lightest of physical pressure, and that shouldn't be a problem unless you are out of the warranty period but otherwise you're DOOMED!2) Poor PDF handling, if you have text based pdfs , it should work fine with landscape mode but if its heavily picture and formula based then you're in for FRUSTRATION!3) Though it supports Mp3 but no Shuffling & it just plays the song the way you place it in the root directory.4) The Web Browser is experimental so no heavy pages.5) Not for careless and rough users, from experience you will understand that you need to be very careful, and that for me is a huge let down, because you aren't usually thaaat diligent with a real BOOK.6) Fixed screensavers, the default 23 of them are good but you don't want to be seeing them forever.7) The 3G feature isn't a good option in places where I live(Assam), though amazon's map does say it should provide Edge but no network yet, and that seems as a TRAITOR's word.8) Kindle books are heavily priced, though the freebies are awesome but any new ebook costs more than the paperback I get in my retail shops in India, and that's again a let down.9) No micrSD support but that shouldn't really count!10)For late night readers, just as with a book, try getting a light lamp or a light source, because without light, a kindle is pointless. FINAL WORDS: Why I gave 5 stars? because amazon has been quite good in replacing me the kindles without me needing to send it back, that's quite a trust! Moreover, apart from all the CONS, the kindle's display and ability to store 3,500 books like almost my entire library is a HAPPY feeling to cherish. Kindle books are expensive! well still not to fret, there are huge free kindle ebooks available on the web like Project Gutenberg etc. Though I completely respect writers but seeing the hyped prices , people can get lots of their books through torrents, but that's not an encouraging idea but in emergencies that's the Best place ;) Though Kindle's operating system is great, but not that good for pdfs, So, if you like to tweak you all can get different OSs into it that handles Pdf's far better with reflow and better mp3 players. And about Screen Savers, well there are tweaks to customize them too so, eventually you can almost cover up all the cons of the kindle and get an Amazing devicekeeping JUUUSSST the durability factor still letting me DOWN... Anyway Overall I LOVE my KINDLE and finally have a place where I can read my thousands of digital books now, and that's an AMAZING feeling...... SO, you choose whats right for you, and hope you Love your decision too :):) SO Happy eReading ;)

Kindle review update
I had problems with the battery of my brand new Kindle since the day I got it. It also froze almost every time I tried to turn it on after sitting for a day. I called customer support several times. One time the CSR was from the Philipines, one time he was from Costa Rica, each time I could barely understand their English. Once I tried communicating through chat mode...Whoa, written English!? That was disappointing. Finally, I convinced them to issue me a BRAND NEW Kindle in return. He said, "We can't guarantee whether it will be brand new or reconditioned." I told them, "MINE is brand new! This is not a year old Kindle I'm replacing! I want BRAND NEW." He said, OK, but when the box came, there is an 'R' on the white tree sticker on the box, unlike the sticker on my original box without the 'R'. No doubt, they sent me a 'R'econditioned unit in place of a BRAND NEW unit. And, they did not include the plug adapter that came with mine, either. Another clue that they did not send me a new-in-the-box unit? I called and another CSR told me that if the Kindle is less than ...6 months? (I can't remember exactly, but mine WAS well under the time limit,) they would send out a BRAND NEW Kindle replacement. Grunt. So I have the replacement and the same thing happens, but this time I can't get the 3G to work at all! Come to find out that it wasn't registered for 3G on their end? I will hold my positive review until I KNOW that this reconditioned unit will not freeze every other day. So far the battery seems to be lasting more than 2 days.I like the thin feel of the Kindle Keyboard, so I'm not sure I would want to read it in a case. I just ordered a sleeve today to protect it while enroute instead. I tried going on facebook with it, but it is awkward and without color, not enjoyable. It is really meant to be an book reader, so I'll just have to wait until I can get an Ipad for navigating the [...] :)I have always been an old-fashioned-book-reading woman. I like the smell and feel of a book. I didn't think I would like an ereader. However, I have been able to download some favorite author 1920's books for free, and am getting used to reading on a screen. I haven't had time to read an entire book yet. It feels strange, so I can't imagine ever giving up on the real deal...a book with pages. But, I said something similar about going from film to digital cameras, too! :)Bottom line: I was disappointed with the customer service, because I would rather have spoken to an American who spoke clear English, and because they didn't give me NEW for NEW. However, I was happy that they replaced the Kindle rather quickly once they understood that unfreezing the Kindle every other day was unacceptable. I know there are new 'touch', smaller, etc KindÎles available now, but I like the feel of this one.December 28,2012 update: I've been using my Kindle for awhile with no problems. I actually enjoy using it and even though I have an iPad now, I will always choose to read on this instead. Since I can find my out of print old books on the Kindle for free, I haven't read or bought a hardcover book in quite awhile.
