I absolutely love this item! I make raw dog and cat food and after rinsing food dishes in the sink, I have to remove the waste from the sink strainer so the food doesn't go into our septic system. I was scraping the waste into a plastic bag on the counter previously, but oh my gosh the stench was horrible! There is never a large amount of waste, so I didn't want to waste plastic bags by throwing it in the trash every day--but it still smelled really bad! I have been using the compost bin for awhile now and it's wonderful! With the included bags and filters, there is no smell whatsoever. I think this compost bin is mainly for vegetable matter for the compost pile--not raw meat--so I was thinking it might not work for my needs. I am really happy that this works. And it looks nice on the counter, too! So if it works for raw meat, it will definitely work for veggies. I'm so happy that I took the chance on this and highly recommend it! Although I received the product for a discounted price in exchange for an honest review, I would gladly have purchased this product any way!

It's a nice looking, well made can, but the enclosed "bonus" plastic bags are not biodegradable as described in the promotional description on Amazon. They are labeled "recyclable", as all plastic bags are. In this case, you have to take the filthy smelly bags out of the can and carefully empty the contents into an outdoor composting container, then rinsing out the bags to recycle somewhere, or else throw everything into the trash defeating the purpose of a recycling can.The can is too small to turn your bio material into compost on the kitchen counter. Also, there are no instructions at all, not one word on the box or in a pamphlet about how to use the can or insert the filters. They don't fit flush in the lid. I did the best I could, just guessing. However, I discovered fruit flies were able to get into the container, even though I tried to put in the filters in such a way as to block the holes on the lid. The round filter should fit snugly into the top but doesn't, the the square one in a round can?? There's sort of a rim running around the inside the top and I sort of maneuvered the square corners into it so it doesn't fall into the can. The fruit flies laid some eggs on the filters. I had to brush and scald them clean. Ick. On the plus side, the filters did block any smells.

My worm bin is so happy. It gets all my kitchen scraps, peelings, tea bags, coffee grounds and this can is perfect. Happy worm bin = happy gardening and more recycled compost. The bright lime green is a pop of color in my kitchen, too! No odors, bonus

I bought the pastel green compost bin that fits nicely under my sink and I love it. The extra carbon filters are a great bonus to buying this kitchen compost kit.I was not happy to discover the included bags are plastic, therefore they are NOT biodegradable compost bags. I went and bought some real compost biodegradable bags on eBay for a great deal.... 13.8" x 15.3" or slightly larger compost bags work best with this bin.

SO convenient to have a small, but large enough, container for our waste. Love this compost bucket! No flies or gnats, no smell, cleans well and I use larger plastic bags than it comes with, and it will hold a ton of stuff.

Beautiful container, but false advertising. "Compost Bags" are not compostable, they are plastic!If I am going out of my way to compost, it is usually because I care about the environment. Composting + plastic bags seem to nullify the good I am trying to do.If you are too cheap to give us actual compostable bags, either raise the price of your product or don't give 50 "compost" bags. Frustrating.

The bin itself seems well constructed and item comes with two charcoal filters. My low star review is because of the misinformation in the description. It states the bin comes with "50 compost bags". This was a selling point for me. It actually comes with 50 recyclable plastic bags that do not biodegrade with your compost. Very misleading.

Wonderful product! We got this for our kitchen counter and it's perfect. It fits about two weeks worth of material for us. My favorite part is how easy it is to clean! It comes with bags, but we decided not to use those. The bin itself is dishwasher safe and cleans well.
