Our primary paleo flour
I've had no issues with sand or grit. This is our go-to gluten-free/paleo flour (usually paired with a small amount of coconut flour and a pinch of arrowroot powder).

Contained Sand
Sand mixed with the last 3 bags I purchased. The first 1 or 2 times I purchased this was wonderful. Can't beat the price, but now that it ruined my backed goods it cost me much more!

Good price but has grit in it
There is a lot of sand or grit in this flour, even after sifting through a very fine mesh. It doesn't seem dirty and you can't actually see any grit. The photo shows the bigger bits of meal/flour that I sifted out. They are mostly just soft bits of plantain/fiber. I couldn't identify any sand in it, but I feel it in my teeth every time I've eaten it.
