Its okay
Well Ill start off by saying that I had a 20 gb hard drive from my very first xbox 360. It wasn't until recently that I needed to get a bigger hard drive for all of the dlc that I have been getting lately. So I ordered a 320 gb hard drive at the same time as this. Well the hard drive showed up 3 days before this arrived and the new map pack for Battlefield just went up and I didn't have enough space to transfer it all. Luckily I have a 16 gb flash drive that I use for school and movies. I popped that bad boy in and was able to transfer all that was on my xbox hard drive to the flash drive. I then put my new hard drive in and was able to transfer it all back onto there. So in the end I didnt really need this, but I guess its okay if any of my friends need it... Who am I kidding I dont have friends.

Works
It works. However it does not come with "With CD disk" as stated. You can find freeware software for it such as 360Xplorer and Xport360.Warning: There are issues with Vista and Windows 7, which will not allow you to write save games back the the hard drive. I tried all the "UAC off" and "DEP on" tricks without any luck. Fortunately my Netbook is running XP and had no problems.MS just released the ability to use USB drives for saves and storage so this might be a waste in the end. Still none of the freeware software will detect the USB storage drives I've setup so I guess it will take some time for that.

Not exactly what i thought it was, but for a $1.50, very pleased.
This is not identical to the Xbox branded transfer cable. That being said, what this is is a cord to connect your hard drive to your computer. It comes with a program that is hard to use, you'll be better off downloading USB XTAF (Google it) and using that.I successfully moved my saved files to a flash drive to get to my new Xbox. Had to make sure the file system is identical to the file system on the hard drive, and you'll be golden.Overall it did what I wanted in a roundabout way, and I'm happy with the money I spent.

This is not a KIT
For you people complaining about it not coming with the DVD.. it's not SUPPOSED TO COME WITH A DVD. This is for modifying files off the hard disk, not transferring the files from one HD to another. You call M$ for that, they will give you the disc. Now, if you're looking to mod files on your hard disk, then this is the product for you. This seller isn't doing anyone wrong, it's you people who are not reading the description correctly!

Does what it's supposed to.
For those having trouble in Windows 7, run the software that came with the disc as Administrator (if you actually got one, from what I read some people didn't). The instructions are in broken English and could have been better written by a 4 year old with a serious brain injury from a motorcycle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike during rush hour in the CARS-TRUCKS-BUSES lane. However, I can access the files, and that is what this device is supposed to let you do.

Got exactly what I wanted.
I felt it was rather obvious that this product was for people only looking for the cable and not the kit that comes with transferring data from one hard drive to another. If you wanted to do that you should have gone straight to Microsoft. I bought this intending to modify the data on my hard drive using my computer. Working with the program that was linked on the plastic baggy, I can back up my entire HDD onto my computer, mess around with it, and then load it back onto my hard drive easily.P.S. If anyone's having problems opening the .rar file linked on the baggy you should google WinRAR and download it.

not the full kit
I just got this and it didn't do what i needed. it was just the cable and i'm sure it works for transferring from consoles but i intended it to transfer data from one hdd to another and you need a disk that comes with the microsoft cables.WARNING DO NOT BUY JUST THE CABLE IF YOU MEAN TO TRANSFER BETWEEN TWO HARD DRIVES.

It says CABLE not KIT
This is for the CABLE not the KIT. Just the cable alone, and not any accompanying software.Mine did come with an unadvertised disc, but I knew what I was doing and didn't require it.**************MY EXPERIENCES ARE WITH THE 360 PHAT.I BELIEVE THE PROCESS GOES DIFFERENTLY WITH THE SLIM.What this cable is for-to attach your 360 HD to your computer.WHAT THIS CABLE IS NOT FOR-to attach 2 HDs to your XBOX.If you attach this cable to your 360 HD then plug the usb end into an XBOX, the XBOX may register it as a usb drive and try to format it as such.**************
