Getting Unstuck - one step at a time
The Ultimate Focus StrategyI received the audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I listened to the audiobook 3 times and then purchased the Kindle version so I could highlight passages and take notes.Martin spares no expense on the recording of his audiobooks. The narrator (John Gagnepain) is excellent as is the audio quality. John is my favorite narrator. I have many of Martin's Kindle books and audiobooks. Very few authors of his quality sell their books/audiobooks at such low prices. And purchasing the Kindle and Audible version together provides even more savings. Usually, you can purchase them both for the cost of a physical book.I'm stuck and have been for years. There are so many 'things' that I want to do and can't decide on what to do first. Using the techniques from this book helped to narrow the scope of what I want to do and what I need to do. There's a difference. You're not going to get an answer from reading this book. But, you will learn the skills and techniques to help you focus on what's important. The trick is, you have to apply what you learn. As I said, the answer isn’t in the book but the tools are.One of the tools for deciding what to do is flipping a coin. Let’s say you can’t decide on which direction to take. You have two choices and they aren’t heads or tails. As the coin is flipped in the air, how do you feel? Which of the two choices are you hoping for? It’s this feeling that you need to be aware of. The one you’re hoping for is the choice/direction/decision you need to take. This and other techniques from the book have helped me focus on the direction I want to take. It’s not the end that matters, its journey getting there. And I’m one step farther along the path.

Great read
I'm going to write an honest review.First of all, this was a very great and enlightening read and helped me better understand the price of success, staying on one path until completion instead of dabbling through multiple projects with mediocre results, and sticking to your goals. It is a great read especially if you are an ambitious person who spreads themselves thin and wonders why they are not making progress in their life. This book taught me the importance of having a primary focus and sticking to it. I reccomend it to anyone who is add when it comes to their goals, or simply if you want to be more focused.I rated it 4 stars since there are some downsides to this book. First of all i don't believe this book is worth $17-$18. 7 - 12 dollars would have been a more reasonable price. Second of all i feel that the author goes off course throughout the book and loses sight of the main point, this book lacks structure that i thought i would find a specific Ultimate Focus Strategy but its more tips on goal setting, achieving, and life lessons than anything (which are great btw). As a note, this book is thicker than Martin's previous books.Overall I highly reccomend this book.

What's holding you back?
Imagine yourself as a pioneer in a covered wagon on the Oregon Trail. Midway across the vast prairie, if you had the opportunity to meet and listen to a wizened old scout who had been over that trail many times, you would certainly want to know everything he could tell you about what lays ahead. You would have a great reason to learn what obstacles to expect, what skills and attitudes are necessary to deal with the upcoming challenges, potential and actual dangers, how to avoid getting off the trail and becoming lost, what local or seasonal problems to expect and how to overcome them, and, in general, what are the best practices of those who have gone before and reached their destination successfully. In this book, The Ultimate Focus Strategy, Martin Meadows presents a means of identifying and getting past the obstacles that have been holding us back or limiting our progress through self-sabotage or just plain quitting. Not at all a rah-rah book, Ultimate is written in the tone of a seasoned campaigner who has been down the same path and overcame the obstacles.Very often in life, we find ourselves wondering why we are not making more progress in our personal development, achieving our career goals, and enriching our relationships. We buy and read a whole stack of books to get inspired, educated, motivated, and enthusiastic… but, after the momentary excitement passes, nothing really changes. Solving the dilemma of our failure to make significant and permanent progress is much like solving a health problem: Usually, there is a root cause and a number of accompanying manifestations that can become problems in themselves. When we identify and deal with the root problem, the secondary problems go away shortly.Identifying and rectifying any of the numerous errors in how we implement the things we learn in the books and courses is what this book is all about. Ultimate is written to guide us, like on the Oregon Trail, to finding the root cause, dealing with it, and moving forward. Readable, useable, and full of practical suggestions, it will counsel you as you move along your own Oregon Trail to your chosen destinations, whatever they are.

The Ultimate Focus Strategy (Emphasis on Focus)
The Ultimate Focus Strategy: How to Set the Right Goals, Develop Powerful Focus, Stick to the Process, and Achieve Success was a solid read. Martin Meadows uses his previous productivity writing to emphasize the importance in focus and how to attain focus in your everyday life. This strategy is designed to be used everyday with all aspects of your life.Focus mixed with understanding what distracts you are important factors to consider and are constantly reiterated throughout. Meadows uses many examples, from his experiences and from his previously written books. This helps you reinforce the ideas of the book by using real world examples.Overall, great book to read and is a nice view of how productivity can be attained with enough though, attention and of course, focus.Cross Posted on Goodreads.

This book helped me when I couldn't focus
So, I've read a number of Martin's books and I really admire this author. He has some interesting new perspectives and yet also manages to reinforce lessons we already know. This is the case in this book - as it is in his other reads. But expect a much longer read with this book..and I don't think the book necessarily benefits from the length.Still, the lessons are good, and I found this book really helpful while focus was a raw pain point for me. It helped me feel less alone in my struggles and helped point me in very specific directions at a time when my mind seemed to want to constantly derail me. I definitely recommend this book if you are struggling with an ability to focus. If you apply the precepts he has laid out, you will find yourself nearer to where you want to be.
