I HATE BLACK LICORICE! UNTIL...
I have NEVER been a fan of black licorice but THESE are made with real ingredients not fake RedVines or Twizlers. Mild anise taste and SO SO good. Much harder to chew than the fake ones but I just put mine in the microwave for 6 seconds and it's perfect!

Did I get a bad batch or did they totally change these?
I LOVED these licorice, until this bag. They were soft and flavorful with the perfect texture. Somewhat like Panda licorice but much better. I have noticed they were out for a while so I've been waiting for them to restock. However, the bag I have is HORRIBLE!! I'm wondering if during the absence from the site if they totally changed some things. The formula? Process? Ingredients? Now, they are very hard, unpleasant to try to chew, and the flavor is almost nondescript. Also, the deep black color and perfect texture are no more. These have an almost translucent look to them and they are a very dark shade of brown instead of black. I do not like them now at all. Could it be that I received a bad batch? I hope so. I will give this bag one star and attempt to repurchase another time. If they are still bad, I will be on the search for another favorite licorice.

Milder Flavor, yet delightful ( good for introducing people to the licorice flavor profile)
It is lovely, but definitely a licorice for those who want a softer experience taste-wise. The licorice taste is there but not overpowered and it is balanced with a gentle, and smooth sweetness. It does get stuck in the teeth very easily. All in all, it was good, but a little too sticky and not as strong as I would personally prefer.

Not as soft as they say!
These were no softer than other licorice options. And the taste was relatively bland. Maybe mine were not fresh, but for the cost I think that the product should have been better made or been more fresh and actually soft as they advertise.
