does what is needed most of the time
This is a great tool for doing horizontal cutting, but if you are doing vertical measurements there is a design floor which can be accounted for but really you shouldn't have too. It is quite firm to move sliders so really need to use locking mechanism.

Good contour/profile finder.
I've wanted one of these for a while; wish that I'd gotten one years ago. It was difficult to adjust initially but I gave it some silicon spray, loosened it up a lot, now easy to adjust and fit to profiles. The lock mechanism is OK but you need to take care that pins aren't moved by mistake. I'll give it a look at and try to get the lock operating with a bit more bite to hold the pins more securely. Overall, I'm fairly happy, it works very well, I just need to sort the lock mechanism to make it that wee bit better. A good buy.
