NOT PLAYABLE BECAUSE IT HAS WRONG FINGERING CHART! Plays in key-pitch 'C', not 'Bb'
I was looking for a standard 'Bb' (B-flat) pitch-key "pocket saxophone" but this is a 'C' pitch-key pocket sax. And it cannot even be correctly played by following the provided Fingering Chart!!! I returned it.Problems:The Amazon Product Description does not provide adequate information for this instrument and so I contacted the seller 'JS Electric".1) The seller 'Js Electric' said it was a 2-octave chromatic instrument that came with a 1-page Fingering Chart as the only documentation. But the provided Fingering Chart is not for this instrument! This a 9-hole instrument (8 top-holes, 1 bottom-hole). The provided fingering chart is for an 8-hole instrument (7 top-holes, 1 bottom-hole)! I made a logical guess and figured out how to play the lower chromatic octave but I could never figure out how to play the upper chromatic octave.2) The seller 'Js Electric' said its lowest note was 'Bb' which means it should play in the standard Soprano/Tenor saxophone pitch-key 'Bb'. But, when compared with a piano, its lowest note (all holes covered) is actually 'C' which means it is really a non-standard "C-melody" saxophone in pitch-key 'C'. Playing standard Soprano/Tenor saxophone sheet music on this C-melody instrument is a real brain-teaser because the standard saxophone sheet music is scored in a 1-note higher transposition (see 'tamingthesaxophone.com/saxophone-transposition' for more details).3) The provided reed should be adjusted when you first get the instrument but the mouthpiece is of such poor quality that it is very hard to consistently get a clean note.4) The lower octave notes I was able to play sound much more like a clarinet than a saxophone! I can only assume the higher octave notes , if I ever figured out how to play them, would sound almost identical to a clarinet.Alternative 'C' Pitch-Key Pocket Sax Recommendation:If you are looking for a 'C' pitch-key pocket sax because you want to play along with piano or guitar sheet music and don't intend to ever play sheet music scored for a Soprano/Tenor saxophone, get a real Xaphoon XAPH Maui Pocket Saxophone instead. Its lower octave notes sound much more like a saxophone than this FarBoat instrument. Probably because the Xaphoon uses a Tenor saxophone reed which is larger than the Alto reed used by the FarBoat and it has a slightly larger bore diameter than the FarBoat. The Xaphoon comes with a detailed 17 page User Manual and Fingering Chart and their website provides useful tutorials and additional sheet music lessons with fingering diagrams.

it's a pocket reed instrument
works well, solid build, came with a natural reed, and a plastic one, which requires more force to generate a tone, but is nice to have as a backup, worth every cent.

Almost identical to the Maui Xaphoon .
I've never played a reed instrument before . After seeing and reading about these pocket saxophones , I decided to check them out . I bought one of these on Amazon and also bought the Maui Zaphoon . This one was way cheaper ( $20 vs $80 ) . Their size and dimensions are almost identical . The big difference is this one has a removable alto sax mouthpiece where the Xaphoon has a permanent tenor sax mouthpieceand this has ten holes instead of nine increasing difficulty . I replaced the mouthpiece on this one with a Yamaha 4C and that made a slight difference . Also using Rico 1.5 reeds .Expect to make some modifications in order to play . Cons : The included reeds are junk and the fingering chart is wrong . If you are new to reed instruments and you buy one of these ( or any brand pocket sax ) , make sure you first change to a real light reed like a 1 or 1.5 or 1.75 .After over a year of messing with this and I still can't get a decent sound out of it .

Very poorly made.
Mine fell apart on me after only two days of use. I was able to get sound out of it, but the scale seemed out of tune and the holes made in the body in very awkward positions making it very difficult to get good seals on the holes. On top of all that, the reed bracket broke on me when I was adjusting it. I wasn't overly tightening it either (as I know you can split the reed doing that). it just broke with normal tension. For context, I play a wide range of wind instruments fairly well and play by ear. This one is just very poorly made. But, you get what you pay for. I'm going to order something a little higher end next time. I mainly needed this to record some Middle-Eastern sounding tracks on some songs I'm working on, but it failed sadly.
