Gilded Tarot Royale

Cute but tiny
I've had some other mini decks for travelling. Or handbag so I don't have to take big sets of cards with me. I mean they really are small! Like tiiiiny but very cute. So they are perfect for travelling or handbag cards. Lovely illustrations. I have the large cards and just love these too.

Didn’t realise it was the mini version
It’s my bad. I didn’t realise I bought the mini version. On the plus side they are beautifully illustrated, and fit perfectly in my handbag. This is a great deck for learning tarot!

Made better than the full size deck
I have the full sized deck of the Gilded Royale Tarot and now the mini deck. The full sized deck is made from a softer cardstock and gets marked easily, with the coating and colour chipping off where they get shuffled and used. After the use they are marked, and so it's disappointing. However, this mini deck of the same cards is made from a harder card stock, and after daily use, so far they have no dings to them whatsoever. I prefer the full size cards for size, but the mini cards for durability. It's a shame they can't meet in the middle so the full size deck lasts longer as I'm already on my second full size deck where they get ruined easily. I love this Tarot deck and would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in reading the cards.

A great but flawed remix of a now classic digitally composed tarot deck
This is a review of the second edition Gilded Tarot Royale published by Llewellyn. I say second edition because I also own the first edition self published limited edition Gilded Royale and this is a comparison between the two.The first edition Gilded Royale published in 2012 by Ciro Marchetti came about because Ciro was not satisfied with his original Gilded Tarot; believing that his tarot knowledge had improved over the intervening years. I would agree with that, both versions of the Gilded Royale are much, much better than the original Gilded Tarot. The first edition Gilded Royale has large bordered cards measuring 8.5cm by 14cm printed on thick cardstock with gold gilding on the edges. The art work features far more detail than the Gilded Tarot. The new borderless edition of the Gilded Royale, measuring 7cm by 11.5cm, is quite different from the first edition, even accounting for the removal of the borders and the smaller size. I have deducted one star from my rating because of the thin cardstock that many people are complaining about but it's not that bad. The cardstock is somewhat laminated and should last quite a while if you don't attempt to riffle/ bridge shuffle. I own other decks with the same cardstock and they are still in good condition - you really should not attempt to riffle shuffle anything not made of playing card stock. The edges of this edition are not gilded which is another common complaint but neither was the original Gilded Tarot. The 'Gilded' in the name come from the the gold and brass which predominates the artwork giving it a mechanical fantasy steampunk feel. The art work in the borderless edition has been greatly changed from the first edition Gilded Royale in many cards; clearly Ciro has done some major reworking of quite a few cards for this edition. I believe it's an improvement too. If the original Gilded Royale was a reworking of the Gilded Tarot then the Borderless edition is a remix remastered version of the reworking (if that makes sense).I enjoy this borderless version, the artwork may be a little too busy to use in large spreads but it's certainly vibrant and colourful and I can see myself using this deck for clients. Highly recommended but be careful how you shuffle the deck - don't riffle shuffle and it will last.

Beautiful little tarot deck
This is a lovely deck and for somebody who has small hands, really easy to use. The illustrations on the cards are beautiful and colourful, and the quality of the card, is excellent, with a nice finish. A really lovely little deck and easy to take with me anywhere I go due to the size. It is very easy to read the cards too. The size of the cards, do not interfere in that way.

A useful set to own as part of a Tarot collection
These cards are beautiful. A little smaller than I was expecting but good for my small hands to mamage. The book that goes with the set is great. I would have preferred coloured illustrations. None the less a good buy.

Handy
Big enoughso you can to see them but small enough to be carried as a travel deck. Although I did use a magnifying glass to read the card name. Beautifully illustrated. Does not come with an interpretation guide.

Bellísimas barajas del Tarot
Es el set más hermoso de mi colección. Ciro Machetti ha creado una obra maestra con sus maravillosos dibujos repletos de detalles y color, con su creación del "Guilded Tarot Royale"
