Highly recommended for Children
In my community, so many children are losing a parent to drug overdose or suicide. This book is a lovely and refreshing account of heaven from a child's perspective. The description of heaven is biblically accurate and the book contains scripture references. My husband is a retired chaplain and recommends this book to surviving parents or family members to share with their children.

This book is AWESOME for children!
I love how down to earth this book is in how it is written in simplistic terms a child can plainly understand from a child's perspective. It is nice they include an introductory note from the child, Colton's parents, for parents. I had read the adult version years, ago, and loved it, as well as the movie. I purchased this for my children for Christmas, as I think it will be a great way for them to better understand who Jesus is and a wonderful depiction of what Heaven is like. I read through it, and LOVE how the text aligns with Bible verses, and the illustrations are beautiful! I couldn't help but get teary-eyed reading it by myself, lol. It helps adults understand what it will be like to go to Heaven one day, too, with how exciting it will be, beautiful, and no pain, etc....what a blessing this family is to share their testimony with others. I also liked questions in the very back that kids may ask. I may buy this as gifts for friends' children, too! It is a REALLY good! I highly recommend!!

has helped grieving children
I purchased this book for my nieces and nephews after my much loved Mother passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. The grandchildren were devastated, and were especially sad that they were not able to see their wonderful Grandmother before she passed or to say goodbye to her. By reading this book, the children (ages 6-9) have gained a sense of closure and acceptance, knowing that their Grandmother is in a wonderful place. The book is well worded, and the pictures and scripture are a great way to talk to the children about what their Grandmother is experiencing now that she is Home. One of our favorite pages is where Colton recalls that in Heaven, all the animals live together peacefully and happily, including lions! The children love to imagine their Grandmother riding an elephant or snuggling with a lion. Out of all of the books I purchased for the children in the days following my Mother's passing, this is the one that the children return to on a regular basis, and the one that has provided the most comfort. I too purchased and read many books on losing the one you love the most, and how to deal with the loss of a most loved Mother. While the adult discussion of using faith to cope with grief was something I needed to hear, I find that in times of deepest grief (which is most of each day), I too picture my Mother petting a lion and enjoying the wonders of Heaven. Sometimes, it is the most simple delivery that provides comfort for both children and adults.

absolutely great for kids!
It is my grandkids favorite! I bought the Heaven is For Real for me and saw this one for kids because !y granddaughter kept wanting me to read mine to her. She now has her own copy illustrated that is easy for her to understand and the 2 of us have our quiet study time together when she is here. It especially helps her now understand and deal with her grief since her grandfather passed in February. Thank you for such a wonderful book. She especially loves the part about Colton praying for a rainbow. She does every night. One day we came out of Walmart and everyone was looking at the sky. We looked there was the biggest brightest rainbow. Our window was open in the van when I said Nebaeh, look! It's your rainbow. She said" Oh Mimi you were right! Heavenly Father does answer my prayers just like Colton in my book said!" "I prayed for that last night" The lady stamdinding next to our van came over heard her and said to her " little child', you have such faith, please pray that my house sells!" Wow the faith of a child. Colton knows! My grandchildren amaze me everyday. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such an amazing instruction manual is what I would callL it for my grandkids. It helps to give them principles to live by even though they are yet only 6 and 7 and they are being examples to others GOD does live!

Great book for both kids and adults
Excellent book for both kids and adults, especially for questions or if there’s a death or hard situation in the family.

Wonderful, inspiring and instructive for kids
This is a great resource for teaching children about Heaven. I'm a nanny who looks after 3 little ones aged 3, 5 and 7 and they often ask me about God and Heaven. This is the perfect book to help them understand what it's really like up there. I love the fact that it's written by someone their age who really knows and has been there. It has vividly painted illustrations which were produced to closely match Colton's own descriptions of what he saw.I've read the adult version of this book, which details how this little boy, Colton, at the age of 3, became seriously ill with a ruptured appendix and nearly died. He was taken to Heaven and saw all sorts of amazing things, met Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit and also his dead Grandpa and older sister (his mum had had a miscarriage and this was a little girl)- something he could never have known, and anyway he was too young to lie or think of such a thing. I think this is a completely genuine account of a NDE (near death experience) many of which have been documented over the years. It is told very matter-of-factly, as is right with small children.I think it's a lovely idea to introduce the topic of Heaven to children and this is the perfect book to do it. I have another couple of Christian books on the same subject - 'Tell me about Eternity by' Joel Anderson and one about the nature of God, 'I feel My Saviour's Love' by Gregg Olsen.

a lecture, not a story
This is NOT a book to be given to children to read. It is the belief of one person, the author who happens to be a pastor who is using this book in lieu of Sunday School to drum home his own belief using his child as a gimmick. For example are four year old children so well versed in the detail of the scriptures to be able to spout what Colton evidently does on his 'visit to heaven'? Topics such as this, if you believe in them, need to be spoken about informally providing children with the opportunity of asking questions and moving on.

slightly diasppointing
Read the adult version of the book and was completely blown away by it, that is why decided to get a children's version for a 9-year old girl who just lost her mother to cancer. Didnt think there was enough content in the children's book, found it lacking a bit to make a proper impact on the reader. Would happily buy adult version for my friends and family, not the children's one.

Kids view of Heaven
Lovely book for children with excellent illustrations. Can make good use of this in my Sunday School Class when it is often difficult to explain the concept of 'Heaven' to little ones. Pleased with this purchase and I will probably get another one as too many are borrowing it!!

Heaven is for real
I think this has soom wonderful pictures. It is a very thin book and not much to it, for the price. But I will still keep it as it is a good book to set a childs mind at rest about death. The imformation when buying it could of stated that it would be too childlike for an eight year old. Very good for very young children. Shame they do not have a book like it for the slightly older child say seven upwards.
