I have been trying a variety of different self adhesive wood grain contact paper. This one is a nice dark tone. Unfortunately it only wants to stick to itself. Can’t keep it from rolling up on itself. Once it is on, however, it doesn’t seem to want to stick. I have tried it on a melamine cabinet top and a color washed plywood bookcase. Both were well cleaned ahead of time. I think it would work fine on a flat surface. If you need to go around an edge you probably need some sort of glue.
