Great value
I love my presses. When cooking for a big crowd, I do the bacon on a cast iron flat griddle on the grill. No smoke and grease in the house. These presses really make the chore easy. Heavy, good wooden handles, easy to clean and solid construction. Even though these are cast, I was able to drill a hole in them so they can hang. Good value for the money. Would recommend to family and friends - pass on name brands...

Great product!
Who knew? Didn't know we even needed this until we owned it! Husband is the chef and he had been looking for a "weight" to hold the bacon down on the grill. You see, I clean up the kitchen after he does his cooking so many years ago, I decided that he needed to grill bacon outside on our BBQ grill. Splatter stays outside but the bacon curls while cooking. This solved the problem. Also gives a nice crisp edge to a steak. Have no complaints, great price and would definitely recommend.

Cast Iron Steak Weight & Bacon Press
Works great! Good size and weight for pressing foods on the griddle. I found that it is a tad long for using with my 10-inch round cast iron skillet, but it should be fine on a square skillet or slightly bigger round skillet. The press did not seem to need seasoning before use; however, I did wash the surface with a little soapy water before use. Good quality.

Hard not to succeed.
Bacon presses are not complicated. These are rugged (mostly) well constructed implementations of a concept that has been around probably for a couple centuries. I like the cast iron better than the more common aluminum. One of the two ordered arrived slightly warped. On a flat surface, the center has an air pocket maybe an eighth of an inch high.Still works fine though, producing nicely browned flat slices. .

It's a little small
It's smaller than it looks, works great, but does not cover whole bacon slices until they're almost done cooking. Does not cover more than 2 MAYBE 3 pieces of smaller bacon. Needs to be wider and longer, and with a higher/taller handle - does not make it easy to grab when bacon grease is splattering all around and the handle itself is too narrow.

Great for pressing Bread only
This only get one star because it is made of metal.I noticed the bad reviews but I thought that by putting cooking oil on it that would preserve it from rusting but it still did. Besides that it has a yellow pine handle that most likely will not ladt long. It might sound wrong to place another brand on this review but I believe that rust on your food would do harm by consuming it. Try the Charcoal Companion brand.

Excellent
This is great for flattening bacon and steaks. I highly recommend this for a friend and would buy again. It has small bumps on the flat, heavy, device. Well made. Needs to be seasoned and dried well after washing as it is metal and can rust if not treated. It does have a sticker that states "Made in China".

I bought 3 of these, one was great, one was lousy, one was alright
I ordered this to go with the Lodge 20" griddle. The dimensions on this seemed like it would be a perfect fit for that griddle and it was. The first one I received was great. It seemed well constructed and was just the right length to cover the width of the griddle without hitting the outside lip. I liked it so much I decided that I wanted to have a pair and ordered another one. The second one I received was awful. The handle was loose and would spin about 1/4" in either direction. Worse, the plate area was visibly warped and could not sit flat. If you set it on a flat surface, it would rock around and the concave bow in the middle was significant. I weighed the two before sending the bad one back and the bad one was about 4 oz lighter.I decided I would try and order another and the third one was okay. It wasn't as good as the first one, it was slightly warped and 5 oz lighter than the first one but nothing bad. I would have been pretty happy with the last one if the first one wasn't better. It was good enough to keep though.Obviously they have some quality control issues. I think this works really well with the Lodge 20" griddle but you may have to do a return to get a decent one.
