If you haven’t met Lord Peter this is a wonderful way to make his acquaintance.
If you can’t get enough of a fix with A. Conan Doyle let Dorothy Sayers be on your reading list. A wonderful collection of early British detective fiction. Not as dark as Holmes, Lord Peter has taken a fancy to solving crimes with style. A great compliment to any collection of the genre. This is my third copy. I keep giving it away to people whom I know will read them more than once. If you’re traveling let Lord Peter Death Bredon Wimsey accompany you in this fine collection of short stories.

Short stories only
This book includes all of the short stories about Lord Peter Wimsey, but not the novels. If you are looking for Whose Body? or any of the other novels, this book is not for you.I wanted the short stories, and I’m very happy with my purchase, but based on the reviews, there’s some confusion about what “complete stories” means.

Some More Moments with Lord Peter
Having written so much about Ms. Sayers and her Lord Peter Wimsey novels over the past few years, I don’t have much to add, so I will be brief. This book brings together all of Lord Peter’s appearances in short story form. For various reasons, they don’t have the impact of the novels. The crimes are often minor or nonexistent—missing wills, stolen jewels, stolen peaches—and, therefore, feel less important. Still, Wimsey is such a fun character with whom to spend time that it’s easy to be forgiving. And, for those of us invested in Wimsey as a “person”, it is fun to see him with his friends, family and, ultimately, his children. For Wimsey fans, it’s definitely worth dipping into.

Great Collection
If you like Lord Peter, this is the book to have. Some of the longer novels are pretty lame, but I think the short stories are are the best way to enjoy Sayers

a nice introduction to Lord Peter Wimsey stories
I enjoy Agatha Christie's work and thought to try this collection of Dorothy Sayers' short stories before buying any of her other books in the Lord Peter Wimsey series. These stories are engaging, varied and appealing. For all that most are murder mysteries they are lighthearted and with a touch of humor. Now I can start on Ms Sayers other Lord Peter books.

Wrong Version
The book was in excellent condition, but it was not the edition I was hoping for. A family member loaned me a version and I lost it and was hoping to replace it with the same one. The trouble is that I didn't know it was published by different cmpanies, and hadn't paid attention to the name of the company that published the one I had. Yet, I know this was not it.

A murder mystery with a lovely sense of humour
I had no idea that Dorothy Sayers, who wrote murder mysteries in the 1930s and 40s, had such a delightful sense of humour. Her amateur detective is unusual in that he is not tall or dark, brooding or suave or even amazingly clever. Lord Peter stumbles around quite a bit but always solves the mystery in the end, often with the reader chuckling all the way through. It is important for the reader to appreciate the language of this period though. Altogether i highly recommend it to folks who like good old fashioned murder.

Excellent, intelligent writing, plots and characters circa 1920!
This is a tremendous value read that l would have paid much more for! Set in the 1920's and bringing that era to life authentically, this compilation of all Dorothy Sayers work is totally engaging. Brilliant writing for intelligent readers, her main characters journey through their young adult lives together.
