GunVault MicroVault Portable Compact Gun Safe with Illuminated No-Eyes Digital Keypad and Security Cable (1 Pistol Capacity)

The media could not be loaded.  DON'T PURCHASE THIS SAFE!! This safe's model number is MV550-19. If you go to the warranty/key replacement page for Gunvault. You'll see that they can't replace the key for this safe if you lose them. I purchased this safe on March 7,2020 and only had it in my car for a month. I put in the code a few times since having it and the safe would longer open. I lost the keys within the first month getting out of my car while running errands. I called Gunvault and they couldn't replace the keys or the safe. It says on their site which safes they can make keys for and the safes that they can't; all the while still selling those safes that they can't make keys for or replace. Check and see if they can replace the safe/keys before purchase. This safe is a total rip off and Gunvualt should be ashamed to be doing this to their customers.

My wife and I purchased two of these to keep our pistols in. We were excited for them to arrive... until we opened the box. One of them had a dent in the corner, which I saw has been a reoccurring theme in reviews for this item. We couldn't even get that safe to open. The second safe would open with the key, but after programming it with a dummy code to test it, the locking mechanism would try and open, and then lock again. This is a serious cause for concern when you are trying to defend your family if the situation requires it. We are returning both safes and likely won't be looking at this brand when purchasing new safes.

The safe is made of reasonably heavy metal but overaall the quality of the safe construction does not compare with competing products in the price range. The latch mechanism is very sensitive to pressure on the lid in either direction and will not open electronically unless the pressure is just right. If you fill the safe with too much foam/contents it will not open electronically due to upward pressure on the lid. If you press down on the lid while operating the electronic keypad it will not open. A key will open in either case. If you are going to use this for a firearm you want it to open every time. Since I replaced the foam and made it custom fit for my contents I have been able to reliably open the safe as long as I don't press on the lid. However my confidence level is still not 100% that it will open the first try when needed. I have strongly considered returning this product once other safes become available again on the market.

This is the second defective safe that I have received makes me wonder what is up with this company and their safes.

Got the first one and the lock would not open. Returned / got a replacement. Same issue. Moving on to a different gun safe. Bummed as I had an older version of this and loved it!

This is my second MicroVault. I purchased one about 3 years ago with the biometric fingerprint scanner. The scanner worked pretty well, but often took 2 or 3 attempts. Overall, I was very satisfied. Unfortunately it only lasted about 3 years. That's why I couldn't give this a rating of 5. This time I decided to save the money and go with this simple push button only version, and I can say it's just as easy to get into as the biometric version.Note: These safes are for storing your firearm while you're away. They should be easy for you to get into it, but that's just for convenience. You should never depend on any electronic gizmo during a life or death situation...The fingerprint scanner version had some kind of circuit board under the sheet metal and behind the foam interior. I suspect my pistol and spare mag probably damaged it over the years. This push button only model doesn't have any electronics inside the enclosure, so hopefully it will last a lot longer. I may be able to fix the old one myself...Many many years ago I had a pistol stolen out of my glove compartment and I had to esentally tell law enforcement a teenager had my loaded gun... That will never happen again. Don't hesitate. Buy it!

While the safe will definitely do what it is suppose do, the outer design is pretty bad. The finger grooves are suppose to help you locate the buttons, but the way they were engraved into the metal, almost makes it harder. They are too spread out for anyone with normal to small hands to comfortable slide their fingers into. Since they are straight lines, this also makes it hard to get all your fingers into the grooves at the same time.

I bought this based on a friend's suggestion..When the first one came it came in the original box only with a small piece of seal tape on it..The tape was broke and box was opened and keys were missing..Ordered replacement and again tape was broke and box was opened..Keys were actually still inside but would not open the gunvault..I am returning for refund and buying the more Expensive Vaulttek..I heard good things about this Brand but dont feel comfortable getting another replacement
