Great Race
For my daughter, I plan to read it too. I found it a must buy because I know the author and I have her other 2 books (Amira's Totally Chocolate World and The Perfect Gift and there is mention of the story in Fairfax, MD (if your from the DC metro area, you'll find that funny because there is a Fairfax but its a county and city in Northern VA)..so I find that amusing and local sounding :)

best book ever!
The great race to sycamore street is a funny, and great book. I have personally chosen this book as one of my top favorites. I am a bookworm just like anami (a character in the book) and when I started reading this book, I felt like I was inside the witnessing the events. If you didn't read this book yet. YOU SHOULD!!! And I mean it!

Amazing read for kids & adults!
Such an amazing story about the experiences of a brother and sister while visiting their Grandma for the summer. Along the way they face challenges like bullies, a mean neighbor, losing things they care about deeply, and learn some pearls of wisdom from Grandma that help them (and the reader) to bare challenge with patience, have integrity to do what’s right even when no one else is looking, striving to make peace with things you can’t change, and the how sometimes even when everything seems to be going wrong, hope may be found in a changed perspective. I used this book for a children’s book club for 7-11 year olds. All of the kids enjoy the book and characters and find the story relatable to their loves as Muslim kids in a mostly non-Muslim society. Even I as an adult found the book inspirational. It is an easy to read story that draws you in and makes you want to read more to find out what happens. It’s appropriate for kids in 2nd-6th grade, with 2nd & 3rd graders maybe needing some help with words from time to time.
