The best of the flameless-very realistic
I purchased this candle and the LED Hub 3-Inch-by-5-Inch LED Flame-less Candle candle at the same time in order to compare them. Both look "fake" when viewed in the daytime in the "off" mode due to the fake wicks. However, the candles both have a wax exterior and glow from the inside, as well as around the "wick," like real candles when in operation. The effect, when viewed from a distance of, say, 8-10 feet, is very realistic. It flickers and moves randomly like a real flame. This Amiblux candle, however, is more real looking even at closer distances. This is probably due to the fact that the "wick" is a flat piece of plastic that can turn partially sideways as it moves, thereby becoming a thinner "flame" now and then, adding to the realism, where the LEDHub candle's wick is always the same shape: conical. Also, the Ambilux flame is more yellow in color, appearing more authentic, whereas the LEDHub candle's wick is more white. We initially had the LEDHub in our bedroom as an early evening nightlight, but it turned out to be too bright, even on the "dim" setting, so we moved it to the dining room, and are using the Ambilux candle in the bedroom as it is more subtle. For dinner last night, my wife actually had me turn the LEDHub candle around so that the wick was not as visible. She finds it unconvincing when viewed directly, even at a distance. We're thinking of buying a second Ambilux candle for the dining room. The remote works ok, but the range is very limited. Mainly it just means you don't have to lift up the candle to turn it on, which is a nice feature. The Ambilux has a simple built in timer that, if selected, will turn the candle on at the same time every day for 5 hours, then off for 19. We like having the candle already on when we head to the bedroom, and that we don't have to remember to turn it off before falling sleep. This candle is definitely preferable to the "3D" LEDHub candle. This candle appears to be identical to the Luminaria candles that sell for upwards of $60 at Pottery Barn. A bargain here on Amazon.

A Fabulous Alternative to an OPEN flame!!!
This is a wonderful product and perfect for older people. The candle looks exactly like it is lite and provides a beautiful ambiance in your home however you NEVER have to worry about forgetting to blow it out. I had a house fire several years ago and I am terrified of having a burningcandle in my home. This is definitely the answer to my problems. I have one in my master bedroom and I use it as a night light which is very cool because it has a timer on it and the candle magically goes off at midnight. I would recommend this particular brand and product to everyone. It is very affordable and easy to use. This company has the motto for their focus that is based on making the best product for a reasonable price AND is extremely customer service friendly. I am so glad I happened on this website. I couldn't be happier with all their products.

Unbelievably realistic looking - just stunning
I am so pleased with these battery operated, natural-looking flame candles. At a home tour recently, I saw a bank of hanging lanterns arrayed in an entryway of home. Each lantern contained a candle similar to these. It was just amazing. I went home, logged into Amazon and looked for these. I love that these have a waxy coating, obviously that they are battery operated (so that they don't need to be near an outlet), that they have a remote (so that they can be in a hard-to-access location (like a lantern) and can be turned on and off without effort. Visually, they are amazing. In addition to the "flame" flickering, as it moves, it throws shadows onto the bowl of the candle. It is just amazingly realistic. I bought two and love them. Will likely buy more as soon as I figure where else I'll place them.

Nice!
I bought these because they were claimed to be JUST like Luminara. They are very similar, but not quite as nice. The dancing wick looks just a hair less real than a luminara. I do like that these come with a remote, and take D batteries vs. similar candles that take smaller size batteries, yes D batteries are more expensive but last SOOO much longer. So worth it. Overall for the price, these are nice, and I do see them lasting. I bought six of them for my bedroom. Overall I am happy with them, and would probably repurchase them in the future!

Customer Service Non-Existent
I didn't want to write this bad review. I love the 5" candle - it's very realistic, and I needed one that didn't have a scent. The remote, however, is pretty useless -- I have to have it pointed right next to the candle (practically touching it) in order for the candle to come on - and I have to push the button several times. Yes, I tried buying a new battery, even though the remote came with one. It didn't help. My real disappointment is with Maison Luxuries' Customer Service. Or lack of one. I contacted them THREE TIMES, and received no response. On the few occasions I've had to contact other Amazon vendors, I received an immediate response. No response is inexcusable. When I need another candle like this, I'll look for a different vendor.

The most realistic, LED candle I have ever seen.
AMAZING! It seriously looks real- there is a small flame shaped piece of material at the top that randomly moves around and catches the light differently at every angle by use of a electromagnet interface- the result is an amazingly effective candle flicker effect! I have seen lots of other LED candles over the years that simply flicker the LED deep within the candle and it looks ok- this is on another level- somebody put some real time and effort into making the best LED candle on the market. The remote control is a nice bonus feature, but really is not necessary. It is likely to get lost in a drawer somewhere anyway. There is a switch on the bottom for OFF/ON/TIMER ON. We generally use the timer feature.Note that the candle housing is real wax surrounding the electronics box inside, so be careful with the finish.
