Great way to secure a pump action shotgun.
This product is great. I had no issues changing the combination and it works as intended. I was reading a lot about people trying to damage our remove the speaker. There are instructions that say to hold down the 1 button to turn off the beep and the 2 button to turn it back on. This did not work. There is a comment in the questions on Amazon that said theirs was reversed so I have that a shot and held down the 2 button and that worked! No more beeps

Shoddylock
Low quality and flimsy. The electronic lock is not reliable, it often will not open. Sometimes, when you type the code it, it will make a high-pitched, loud, continuous tone for about 5 minutes straight. It's done this a few times. The system is unresponsive and you cannot make it stop. By the time I found the keys, unlocked it, got an allen wrench to open the battery compartment... it stopped. Also, customer service phone number from their website goes to a personal voicemail--and you never get a return phone call after leaving a message.Borderline scam. Avoid.

At first it did not work, it would not lock. Then I found that the battery holder was pressing against the locking mechanism. Once I moved that a bit, it worked, at the cost of the battery wires coming off the battery terminals. So it is manual, seems to work well, they key is difficult to use at times. But it does work, it does attach to the wall.

Lock failure without low battery indicator flagging an issue.
Had this installed for about 1.5 years, opened occasionally. Checked it yesterday and it wouldn't open, could hear the beep when keys depressed and got a single beep verification when correct code entered but lock wouldn't actuate. Opened with key, replaced batteries and worked fine with same combo. All 4 batteries removed from the unit measured over 1.43V which is somewhat discharged but not bad. The low battery indicator light or intermittent beep did not flag with these batteries but the lock actuation failed. Seems like all the features aren't tested thoroughly before shipping. In any case I do not trust it to open now when needed I am returning and going to try the mechanical version because the unit itself seems secure. If staying with the electronic version I'd suggest putting your batteries on a replacement schedule and not relying on the low battery indicator. Thanks Amazon for refunding without issue. Contacted manufacturer and they sent me back to Amazon instead of dealing direct, don't know if that is the norm.

Decent, but with flaws
The shotlock electric shotgun safe works well to secure my Mossburg model 500. It has numerous mounting points to install it to the wall as needed and comes with all hardware required. It comes with a number of mounts that can be used to secure various other shotguns as well. The first one I received was defective, and would not allow me to change the combination. A replacement was sent out immediately, and worked fine. Besides the push button combination lock, it has a key override. Although it does work well, I gave it three stars for two reasons:1) If you are going to have an electronic lock, why not have the buttons lighted? You would have to turn on a light to see the buttons at night. In an emergency, where you would need to get to the gun quickly, having to turn on the lights would both destroy your night vision and give away your position, both of which place you in danger.2) The second reason is that the safe beeps loudly when the buttons are pressed, so even if you were able to open it without a light, you would still be giving away your position.I'm still fairly happy with the safe. It keeps my gun secure and away from those that shouldn't touch it, while allowing me quick access in an emergency.

Used for my Mossberg 500 20 gauge pump with pistol grip, adjustable stock. Had to remove some of the foam lining because with it in it was too tight and the lock stuck shut. Still had enough clearance from the wall for my sidesaddle that's on the side of the stock. Have only had it mounted for a day but it is solid.

Great!
Keep my shotgun locked away but ready. It was easy to install. It was difficult to figure out which way to hold my shotgun in place, but I figured it out. Overall it does exactly what I need it to do. Comes with a battery backup if batteries inside die. Test weekly to ensure batteries are working!

Dangerous
The keypad lock is garbage. Ours is stuck on the default combination which any burglar or my kids once they’re old enough will be able to easily guess. We’ve called Shotlock and all they suggest is changing the batteries, which we did but the combo will still not change. We follow the instructions and get the two beeps but then it’s always only the default code that works. On top of that sometimes entering the default code just doesn’t work and as other people have mentioned it will just start an incessant beeping until I take the batteries out. It’s significantly more dangerous than a key safe because at least a key safe i would know to go for the key first in the case of a break in. With this first you have the loud beeps with just punching numbers in the keypad and then potentially the loud incessant beeping of a broken device letting the burglar know exactly where I am, and then I still need to fetch my key to finally unlock the thing. Do not waste your money.
