Cheap, but great.
For this price, you can’t really complain. I use these down in the Florida Keys for lobstering and they work perfectly there. The “H” shape is a better design than the dumbbell shaped ones, because those continue to unroll too easily once the weight hits bottom. As the water gets deeper and the current get stronger, these will tend to unroll and drift off course more, but remember it’s just a weight on a string tied to a plastic block, not a gps guided trolling motor. The string is not very tough so be careful pulling it back up if it’s hooked on any rocks or reefs. I tend to lose or break one each year but I will always buy these as they serve their purpose great.

I use four of these
These types of markers are great, easy to see, and they don't unwind in ruff water, my only argument is the line is a bit cheap and has a tendency to twist and knot up, so the next time you drop it in the water it doesn't unwind. The other is the lead weight, I know your chances of loosing the weight are one in a million but it can happen, now you have left a huge hunk of lead sitting on the bottom of a lake, so I replace the lead with a nice steel nut, it works the same if not better and if by chance I get the marker hung up in a brush pile and lose the weight I don't feel so bad about leaving a piece of steel that's going to rust away.

Works great
I have not tried it in deep water, only about 5-6 feet deep with a slow moving river current. But it works great. Just toss it over the side and it unravels by itself and once the weight is on the bottom is stays put. And you can see it surprisingly well. It is not a super large float, but the fluorescent color makes it easy to spot. If might be more difficult if there is a lot of sun and waves, but I could see it from over 100 yards away in the river. Also, it does not mention it in the description, but you get 2 per pack; so this product is 2 for the price of one. Great product; I would highly recommend it.

Works great for me!
I had never used marker buoys before but the idea sounded great. There ARE two in this pack, a nice perk for those who thought they were only getting one. The first time I used them, as someone included when answering the first question, they failed to unravel, and so were useless. Later, on land, I unravelled each of them and rolled them back up and now they both work as advertised. Friends noting I had caught a walleye asked where, as I was dealing with it. I pointed. No uncertainty there! The line length and weight are sufficient. The soft lead is wrapped around the center bar for storage, so separate them before tossing it over. The lead is attached to the string. Be careful - lead is a soft metal and much bending of it will surely break the lead bar.

Used as a scuba diving marker
I got this to be used as a marker Buoy when scuba diving. Kind of opposite use of it's intended use. I carry this wen I go diving in water with poor visibility and if there is something to mark top side you just tie one end off on the object and let this go and float to the surface. The size is good.. not to big and not too small so you can see it on the surface.
