Hillcrest Medical Center: Beginning Medical Transcription 7th Edition

This book is used in Ontario at Ontario Colleges for Beginning Medical Transcription. It is critical to have the Audio CD in order to participate in the course. Because it was not bundled with The Student Edition Audio Transcription Exercises on CD to Accompany Hillcrest Medical Center Beginning Medical Transcription 7th Edition, there were 35 students SCRAMBLING with a teacher to get the course going without delay. Amazon should work with the publisher to have this CD included with the textbook. The directors at several Ontario Colleges would likely appreciate this as well as they were called to work with students individually to locate the audio CD for them.

I could not be more happy with this purchase. What would have cost me almost $400 if bought new, I spent less than $40 by buying this book and the audio disk separately. The book is like new and the CD intact. Thank You!

Book came in a great clean matter and was completely fulfilled with what the description had been written about the book.

This book was wrote in on probably 45% of its pages, cross word puzzles filled in, ect. But i thot about it and figured that it already had the answers for alot of it so maybe that was a good thing.

This is exactly what I needed for class! The book came on time with the cds that I needed to do my class work.

I give one star because I feel generous today. The truth is that it deserves none.Although the book looks very promising and clear enough, the CD that is attached to the book is NOT the CD that contains the audio transcriptions. the CD that comes with the book only contains some vocabulary in audio form, but not the transcriptions. It is actually quite amusing (once you pass the stage of being furious like I did) to find out that the CD contains a collection of 'templates' for you to include the transcriptions from the audio exercises that ARE NOT INCLUDED.In my case, I only purchased the book thinking that the CD attached was sufficient to complete the course, included the audio exercises and it was going to help me practice with real medical transcriptions to get used to them. For this, this book did not serve the purpose at all and I regret having wasted my money on it.The advert of the book did not make the customer aware that there is another CD with the actual audio for the transcriptions, so I feel cheated and I think that the book is completely overpriced for what it is. Without the audio transcriptions, it is just another book with some medical information on it and a collection of letters and word transcriptions from the hospital.In conclusion, it has been a complete waste of my money and my time because without the CD with the transcriptions this book-course it is completely useless.If you intend to purchase this book, please be aware that on its own IT WILL NOT be sufficient for you to do the transcriptions. Also remember that the CD that comes with the book DOES NOT contain the audio transcriptions. Needed it for school, they've made a new edition so its useless after this year if you're getting it for school. Otherwise it's a useful textbook for giving a good guide to medical transcription, however, once you are out in the real world working it truly depends on the style your workplace does that will determine how you end up transcribing so although there is hard-fast rules in the book, the workplace you might end up in may have different template styles, grammar rules and it will be up to them at the end of the day. Did not use the CD so I don't know if it's any good.

Ridiculously prices in my opinion given that they don't have a long shelf life. Bad for the climate and sets a bad example imo
