Barratts Dolly Mixtures 500 Gram Bag (1/2 Kilo)

I've heard jokes about Dolly Mixture for years on the BBC's "Goon Show" in which the hapless boy scout Bluebottle is paid off for various nefarious deeds with Dolly Mixture. With what? My curiosity finally got the best of me. I got a big bag. These confections are unlike anything on the U.S. market, a cunning, marshmallowy treat in rather subtle flavors (like everything in Japan). I suspect they'd be considered an acquired taste here since, unlike the U.K., we lack the candy's deeply-ingrained cultural presence. But they'd be jolly fun at parties, especially for kids, and as a TOTALLY unique gift your fave sweet-toothed bud will love. You'll forever be remembered as a finder-of-the-eclectic-unusual-supremo!

Not as good as others I have bought. No flavor.

I don't even know if it is real Dolly Mixture. Something is not quite right with this...

Arrived but unfortunately they are stale. Too bad. These were the sweets of my childhood, my favorite.

The gummy ones are quite good. The little fondant squares are OK, but not my cup of tea. Still nice to try.

If you adore Dolly Mix (and who doesn't), you're probably sick of imitations, or worse, stale ones that challenge your jaws but that you won't spit out because it's Dolly Mix, after all. Well, your search is over. These are the best you'll find, soft and delicious. You know, the ones you pinch into little pancakes before you eat them. Don't fear the generic sealed package--they're Barratts all right. An amazing batch of candy that you bring you back to your childhood, assuming that these were a part of it. I can't imagine the horror otherwise.I just ordered another bag. It'll last a day or two...maybe.
