I liked it while it lasted is why it doesn't get a 1 star review. One of the teeth broke after about 7 months. I am a carpenter and this item was used frequently. I use a larger 24 oz estwing hammer and it took the abuse for 7 months. I'm now trying out another brand. Some of the guys I've worked with have had their cats paws for many years, not months. After purchasing a second one, thinking it might last longer, it broke at 7 months again. The design is great, it bites into wood nicely and pulls larger nails, but, it's not hardened properly for professional use.

Pulled out those long nails
The previous owner of our house built this platform in the bedroom. We wanted to take it down as honestly it was so annoying having two floor levels in the same room.. a big hazard for my toes. Anyway, he had made a solidly built platform and don't ask how many nails we had to pull out. After doing a bit of research I saw many people recommended to get a nail puller - aka cats paw. At lowes we bought one but it didn't work out so well for us. We were having a hard time pulling out the nails and the more nails head broke then we managed to pull out.I saw this on amazon and noticed it was longer and seemed more sturdy. So decided to give it a try. Wow, you hammer this under the nail head and it would start to lift the nail slight and we could pull it out. Made the job a lot more bearable to do.PS and I am a girl so if i found it easy to use - any guy should find it a breeze :)

First Impressions are great
Haven't had a chance to use this a ton yet, but when I did use it, I was very impressed. We've been retrofitting out house's crawlspace with floor leveling screw jacks, which requires removal of the old 4x6 redwood blocks on each of our house's concrete piers. Our crawlspace ranges from about 18" - 30" so you don't have much room to operate. When I took this guy under the house and tried to start pulling 3" nails, it was like taking them out of soft butter. The claws could practically be inserted into these redwood blocks without hammering it in, they are so sharp! Even lying on my back and having to pull at very awkward angles, the nails would come out very easily. My older nail puller, I would pretty much have to pull with 2 hands with all my might and even had to try and hammer the side of it to get nails out. No more with this guy, left handed awkward angle, no problem, nails come right out. Great tool, it saves time and energy!

Carpenter by Trade, My Favorite Brand!!
These long cats paws are hard to find. Cant get them at Home Depot or Lowes. Some specialty stores carry them but not all. The fact that its a bakuma means that they wont break easily, last a long time (If you don't loose it) and are aggressive in pulling out buried sinkers and double head nails which some knuckle heads sometimes pound flush. Frequently asked where I got it. people who have tried it like it better than theirs. Delivery was as scheduled.

Big nail puller.
Biggest cats paw I ever saw. This is going to be the one I let others use. This thing is too heavy for all day carry in your bags, but for demo it's as handy as a sledge or a shovel.A must have for ripping stuff apart. It's for 'those' jobs.

Limited Lifespan But Worth It.
The 14" puller is one of the few on the market with a long handle and wide enough groove to pull larger framing nails (20 D). They can take a beating for a while but teeth will eventually break.

A godsend for salvaging lumber!
We recently built a small barn entirely out of materials salvaged from a house demolition. Without this baby, I'd've spent a whole lot more time, hand a lot less usable wood, and had one heck of a sore arm. Worked like a charm removing long and bent nails, even nails with no heads. I just have all the pointy ends a what with the hammering surface, then flipped the board over and pulled them all out. Easy peasy, and I'm a big wimp. It's also bright blue and easy to spot. I think I'll follow the other reviewers and grab a smaller one as well.

Worth every penny
Bought this as a second tool so I didn't have to rob the one from the shop all the time. I've removed close to 100 16 penny nails from framing today and the tool still looks like new. The edges are still sharp with no deformation or dulling. Definitely a good buy.
