Beautiful in classic black, the Arrow Norma Jean model 353 sewing cabinet is a must-have for active sewists who want the features of a great cabinet in a piece that looks at home anywhere in the house. Suitable for sewing and embroidery as well as expandable for quilting, the Norma Jean is one of Arrow’s more popular models. The Norma Jean model 353 is a conservative 41-¼” wide, 20” deep and 31-¼” high when closed up, hiding the machine and all supplies neatly inside. Opened with the two drop leafs up and supported by their swing-out supports, it expands to a generous 81-½” wide with an open height of 30-½” after the drop leaf is unfolded, offering plenty of knee and legroom. With the addition of the rear quilting leaf sold separately, the 353 provides enough workspace for any sewing project. One of the great features of the Norma Jean is its easy airlift mechanism that raises and lowers the machine from flatbed position to freearm position, then stores the machine below the work surface so the cabinet can be closed. The adjustable mechanism can support machines up to 50 lbs,and the machine opening can accommodate machines up to 23-½” wide, 12-¼” deep, and 13-⅞” tall. All knobs, plugs, and more are included plus there is an optional custom insert available that is sold separately. Another feature of the model 353 cabinet is the amount of storage space it has built-in. This cabinet offers 4 accessory bins on the left, installed on the inside of the swing-out cabinet door and perfect for holding thread spools, sewing tools, machine accessories, and more. On the right, there are 4 sizeable drawers for larger items while on top, a recessed double compartment makes keeping frequently used items like scissors and pins convenient. Made from sturdy wood composite/MDF, the Norma Jean model 353 is finished in a durable vinyl laminate in classic black.

Good cabinet for someone who is serious about sewing. Their support is outstanding.
The cabinet arrives in 3 boxes and was actually a bit sooner than expected. Looking at the boxes I could see two damp corners along one side. Written right on the box in large letters was a statement that if there was any visible damage to the boxes do not refuse it rather call an 800 number listed on the box in very large numbers. I called the support number and there was a recording. The first item on the list was to press one if you were calling about damage. To my surprise my call was answered right away and the lady on the other end said to just open the boxes and call back if I found any damage.Unboxing took quite a bit of time. Taking even more time was going through the list to make sure everything was there. This part was made a bit more difficult by the fact that it listed parts but said nothing about the number of each that was supposed to be in the bags.Once I was done with that step, at least an hour, I was ready to assemble the cabinet. I did watch the video before starting and while not totally necessary it was helpful later on. The instructions are adequate but can be confusing at times. If you are not handy with tools and assembling furniture get a friend who is to help you out. There was one missing part and since it was on the one piece that came already assembled I didn't notice it until I was almost done. It was a bolt that is part of the lift mechanism. Since it is not essential for the use of the cabinet I finished up and then called the support number. Same as before select 1 on the voice menu and get connected without a delay. The nice lady I talked to actually put me on hold so she could go check and make sure she got the right bolt, washer and nut. She told me the parts would be mailed out the following day. Since that was yesterday I will have to wait for several days for it to arrive. But I have to say that if my experience with support is the norm they definitely have 5 star support. My wife is very happy with her first real sewing cabinet. She is an avid sewer and the cabinet looks great. I have done some hobby type woodworking in the past making some of my own cabinets so I am probably a bit more critical than most. There are a couple of areas that concern me in the construction. The large front door is pressed wood so is very heavy. The hinges on the door are ok but fastened with fairly small screws into pressed wood. I can see this as a potential problem down the road. I saw one review where the writer installed a caster on the door so I will have to look into doing that myself. The other items are pretty minor and don't expect to be a problem. The folding top hinges and drawer handles look to be nice heavy brass fittings.Over all the assembly was not overly difficult, I am in my 70s, and shouldn't be too difficult for most people. You definitely need two able bodied people when it is time to flip the cabinet upside down. I would definitely buy this again and if you have a sewer in the household that does a lot of sewing it is worth the money.

Great product, highly recommended.
First off let me start out by saying that my wife loves this cabinet. She asked for a sewing cabinet and had picked out a less expensive model. I did some research on this $150 model and quickly became worried about the long-term quality. After looking around I went with the Arrow cabinet, even after reading reviews about trouble building them. The cabinet came quickly but unfortunately the box containing the top was damaged and I could clearly see damage to the wood. Thankfully, on the box, was writing that says if damaged call this number. I called the next day and received great customer service. They were able to pull up my order, asked what was wrong, and without hesitation send me a new top. They only asked for a follow-up email with photos, which I had taken before even opening the box. The new top came within a couple of days.Assembly actually went far better than I planned, based on the reviews. About 2.5 hours. I didn't even have to use the assembly video (that Arrow put together on their website). I agree, the instructions are poor. But I've build enough "things" over the years, and this wasn't the worst. The cabinet is very solid, though it is made of press board. All of the parts fit together perfect and it doesn't wobble or shake. I can see where spending a little more money might have gotten me better hinges and cabinet hardware...but that can be changed out down the road if necessary. The air-assist shelf is great! Didn't even need to adjust it for my wife's machine.All-in-all, great product for the money! Very happy so far!

Great customer service!
We purchased the Arrow Norma Jean sewing cabinet. It arrived in good condition (well packed) . It was _mostly_ easy to assemble, but the sewing machine platform was pretty hard. Assembly is definitely a two person job. The quality was as expected - better than your average "assemble it yourself" furniture - even though it was much less expensive than other similar sewing machine cabinets.I chose this particular cabinet because of the configuration - I wanted drawers and a cabinet to hide the sewing machine when not in use. The fold out table top provides plenty of work space and the "essentials tray" hidden under the top keeps my most commonly used tools at my fingertips, but still out of the way. What was not really expected was the great customer service. We had problems installing the platform and needed a new platform. And we had a few small hardware issues (1 mis-threaded bolt, 1 wobbly hinge). I emailed customer support and got an immediate response. I also called and talked to an _actual person_ who was very helpful. This company definitely takes pride in their products and customer experience.
