Dumpling Soup

This is a book that every child (and adult) should read. It tells the story of a little girl and her diverse family which incudes many different ethnic groups. Each person's uniqueness is celebrated and shared. A truly beautiful story of what it means to be included and accepted. Highly recommended.

A gentle, prettily illustrated portrayal of a racially mixed family in Hawaii. The book depicts several generations of a family getting together at the matriarch's house to celebrate the New Year. My preschooler particularly liked the fact that the protagonist of the book, a little girl named Marisa, was participating in making the dumplings.

This is a great memoir to read!

Lovely book celebrating Korean culture and family. My five year old loved it. Only complaint is that the book arrived bent and wrinkled (paperback version).

This story is so sweet and cute!

Jama Kim Rattigan did a great job writing this book to capture a child's desire for approval from her family, a diverse family background, and the uniqueness of each family's traditions.The only thing that doesn't win my heart is the illustrations. The style is adequate, but not nearly as clear or beautiful as the story it accompanies.

Schönes Buch mit Rezept im Anhang - das ist eine schöne Idee. Die Zeichnungen finde ich schön und liebevoll. Es ist aber nicht unser Lieblingsbuch, dafür hätte es an Inhalt mehr hergeben müssen.....
