Great read!

This is a wonderful book. I had the pleasure of attending a Deming 4 day seminar back in the early 90's. As I read this book (still reading and re-reading it!), I could almost hear Dr. Deming's raspy voice. Every page of this amazing collection is worth highlighting, dog-earing, or copying (fair use only!) and posting on your desk or bulletin board. I could see a great desktop calendar coming out of this with all the great quotations. Focusing on Dr. Deming's philosophy of management, this book is best summed up by the following quote, "Deming's over-riding message: quality and operations are all about systems, not individual performances; the system has to be designed so that the worker can perform well." Many good ideas & fundamentals in this book that should be utilized by all. Some thoughts in the book I don't totally believe in & agree but the majority , yes

There is so much scope and breadth to the work of Edwards Deming that attempting to bring it all together in a single book on leadership principles would appear to be taking on the impossible. But Joyce does a remarkable job and gives Deming a fresh perspective in the process. The book organizes this collection of excerpts from speeches, letters, and papers, in a logical and highly accessible flow that 'even executives' will understand. Never have they needed to understand it more than now.

In search of something, I have subjected myself to the reading, or even studying, of many business books, but have always come away with more questions about that something I was searching for. Then came Deming in my life, and that changed everything. This book pieces together many of Deming's writings in a simple, understandable way. This book is well worth a read

Orsini has done a wonderful job collecting, curating, and arranging this volume of Deming's words. While there are overlaps with other Deming books, there are also insights into Deming's life and character and his interactions with company executives that make for fascinating reading. I can only imagine being that blunt with people in the C level of major corporations and surviving to tell the tale.

Good read for anyone in the corporate world. Too bad our fat cats didn't listen to him, I can't even imagine what kind of nation we would be living in now if they had. Look at Japan before their version of the yuppie took over the corporate reins

If you have never read any of Deming’s works, this is a good place to start. This is a compendium of notes, letters and speeches by the statistician and business management consultant covering his key philosophies. His famous 14 points are covered, as are his teachings on statistical variation that he taught the Japanese in the 1950s.If you’re already familiar with the management philosophy of Deming, this book will offer nothing that hasn’t already been covered in other published works. However, reading these pages gives you a greater appreciation of the strong beliefs Deming had throughout his life and his unwavering commitment to them.I enjoyed this collection and, being a student of Deming’s philosophy I took pleasure in reading his humour and wit.Certainly recommended.

Just started reading. But one point to note. Delivery was fast. Next day!!!!

If you have never read anything by Deming then this book will give you a good understanding of one of the top 10 thought leaders of the last century.I would suggest however going straight for 'Out of the Crisis' if you really want to understand how to manage any organisation correctly (if you ready for his (1960's) ahead of the times thinking)

Good product & arrived Quickly - Thank you

The contents are really repetitive. Deming said the same things many times to different audiences and unfortunately these are repeated verbatim in this book without real attempt being made to summarise for the benefit of the reader.
