ASU-15 Asphalt Saturated Underlayment Hardwood Flooring Paper

I just put down 420ft2 of Hard Maple pre-finished flooring, and used this product. It only took one roll to do the entire area, which is about half the amount of regular roofing felt that I would have needed. In fact it surprised me how much it covered. The product seems well made - i.e. very uniform texture; doesn't tear easily, etc.Maybe it deserves 5 stars - my hesitancy derives from the fact that it is considerably thinner than the roofing felt I normally use, which I guess has both positives and negatives. I bought it in the first place because it was specifically designated for use under hardwood flooring. Maybe with more research I could figure out what makes it better than roofing felt.Positives: Covers much more area per roll; joint overlaps are thinner; not quite as stinky as roofing felt; surprisingly tear-resistant, saved me a trip to Hated DepotNegatives: Not quite as rugged as roofing felt; not sure if the thinner material cushions as well as felt; somewhat more expensive, but given the cost of the wood, the underlayment price is irrelevant.So all in all, I'd probably use it again, but after a little more study.Update: 12/10/2013. No change to above comments - just the observation that (not surprisingly) it is not easy to combine this product with roofing felt. I came up short just a few ft2, and layered some old felt under this stuff to finish. Would not recommend. On a totally unrelated note - when you buy shoe molding to finish off the floor, remember that the wastage is inherently pretty high. Especially if you don't like splicing pieces together - allow at least 20% wastage - the molding comes in 7.5 ft strips (or mine did).

Use for lumber liquidators laminate flooring as vapor barrier. Work perfectly at a fraction of the cost compared to what the stores try to sell you (which can cost as much as the floor. LOL)

Works pretty well for hardwood floors.

Excellent underlayment

Bought this to go under some bamboo flooring I am installing. Its a great product with great weight to it. I highly recommend it and its MUCH cheaper than similar products at Lowe's and Home Depot.

So you do not get HWD-15 BRAND!You do get ASU-15 felt paper!Seller should change PHOTOS!!!!

Underlayment came on time as promised and has worked great for my project!
