Nintendogs + Cats: French Bulldog and New Friends

There will not be much of a structure to this review, it should be a simple, quick review of why I got the game and how I like it.I am married and have a 3 year old daughter. I recently bought a 3DS and my daughter got the hand me down DS Lite. I got her Nintendogs last week since it is purely a sylus/touch screen game and should have been easy for her to control compared to Super Mario 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and other games that I already have. And it was very easy for her to play. I've played Nintendogs a few years ago on one of my sisters' DS' and enjoyed it. But when I got my daughter the Chihuahua and Friends for the DS, I had more fun with it than her OR my wife! So I just had to see what the 3DS Nintendogs and Cats was about. I got it on here at Amazon new for a great price (less than half of what I would have paid at Walmart AND free 2 day shipping, but enough of that, this is a product review :)). So, the graphics are great, and the dogs look amazin. I like the new contest system of 2 times per contest a day so that is 6 possible contests per dog compared to 3 contests a day per dog in the old one. The contests are my favorite part. I just like to raising a champion. I like the contest system but I liked the contests themselves better in the OLD Nintendogs. What happened to the obstacle course?? That was the best part! And instead of the obstacle course... I get to wind this little handle around so my dog can chase a lure like I'm going fishing or something. What the heck, Japan? Your ideas amaze me. And not in a good way... Other than that I have nothing to complain about, and that complaint is not worthy of dropping any stars on this game's rating. It's a marvelous game all together. The lack of cat options and activities does not bother me. I got it for the dogs. Cats are lazy and annoy me anyways. Being able to take your dogs on more walks than the old one is a plus. Even though I don't use the 3D feature very much, the dogs being on the upper screen rather than the touch screen is still a plus for me because I can use my oversized pen shaped stylus without it getting in the way of my view. One thing that annoyed me but was kinda my fault was the time was off by 12 hours on my 3DS so I woke up this morning and it still said it was Wednesday so I couldn't do any contests yet. Well I fixed the time and I still can't do any contests even though it says it's thursday now... I guess that feature is there to prevent people from time travelling and earning all the money they can carry. So cheaters, stick to grand theft auto. Overall, I give the game a 10/10. It really doesn't get much better on the 3DS. At first it might be slow, but you will get more dogs and will be able to do more per day other than just go on walks because you already did 6 contests..

I purchased this game as a substitute to a real dog because ever since I was little I've been irritating my parents asking over and over for a dog. It's not the same, but it's fun and amazing. The game starts you off with nine breeds: Chihuahua, French Bulldog, German Shepherd, Yorkshire Terrier, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Shetland Sheepdog, Dalmatian, Basset Hound and Siberian Husky. You unlock cats right after you finish teaching your dog to sit. The voice control is amazing and works fine as long as you remember to use your self tone of voice. The 3ds xl has a face recognition camera, so the dog will only respond to one person. It can also scan your mood, so if the dog sees that you're in a bad mood, he/she will be less likely to respond. My parents weren't very happy with the $50+ dollars I spent on the game, until they saw my puppy! She is an adorable sable and white Shetland Sheepdog named Friday because I got the game, and her, on Black Friday. She is learning very quickly to fetch and lure course. To teach your dog to fetch, throw the frisbee a short distance towards it, then after the dog picks it up, don't call, just multi tap on the screen. Always pet the dog before taking the frisbee. Be patient. You will notice that your dog will be tugging on the toy for shorter and shorter periods of time when you try to take it away. And will come running faster when you tap. To lure course, rotate the dial slowly at first, then when your dog barks, speed up a little more. You can walk your dog as many times as you want, but remember to rest, or your dog will whimper. Weave through the cones without touching them, and a gift will appear at the end. Follow directions carefully when walking your dog. Don't let your dog pee anywhere other than the grass patches. If the dog tries to go toward the fire hydrants or mailboxes, tug upward on the leash until an exclamation mark appears, then give your dog a treat. Don't let your dog roll on the grass either. When he looks at you and whimpers, tug on the leash; he is thinking about rolling. Anyway, the graphics and animation are amazing, and the game was totally worth it. I take my 3ds xl to work to take care of my puppy during lunch break and because of that, I've earned lots of owner points. Have fun!

Bought it as new, received the game still wrapped in it's plastic and earlier then expected. I have been playing this game since I got it, works perfectly. 10/10 would totally buy from again!
